hi
I have a drop downlist with the titles of my documents. I cut the titles if their length is more than 25 but when I hover my mouse on the values of the drop down list, I want to display the full titles as tooltip(I dont know whats the exact name to say, I think its tooltip). for example: If I hover the mouse on links if we set the title of the link it displays the links with yellow box and title. Like that I want to display the titles with in the drop downlist.
Is it possible. How can this be done?
Any one give me Ideas!!
thanks

Hi all,
How to embed a external vbscript file in asp.net application.
Thanks in advance

the same way you do a javasript file, with a script tag. You shouldn't use vbscript tho, it means only IE can open your page. Plus, it sucks.

Set the readonly property to true for the columns that you dont want to let the user edit

Hi
I have the following code:
Button1.Attributes.Add("onmouseover","this.style.backgroundColor='#000000'");
Is it possible to make a div invisible by putting it in the above code, I cant seem to find the correct syntax.
I tried Div1.visible = false but it didnt work
thanks

this.style.display='none'
then
this.style.display='block' or 'inline' or whatever suits.

Do you mean Div1 instead of this ? this refers to the page instance, and it don't have a style property.

Sorry, indeed: typed it out too quickly for my own good.

If Div1 is made to run at server, it should work. Alternatively try setting CSS display:none

Hi
i tried
Button1.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "Div1.style.display='none'");
but when i hover over it shows a javascript error saying Div1 is undefined??
Ive got a div 1 in my aspx page and it runs at server

Are you trying to hide div on button's mouse over ? Then you may try
Button1.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "javascript:document.getElementById('div1').style.display = 'none'");

Ok thanks the code above worked, but how do I unhide a hidden div at the same time, ive tried the folloiwng but it says error object required:
Button1.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "javascript:document.getElementById('div5').style.display = 'none';javascript:document.getElementById('Div2').style.display = 'inline';");
thanks!

Ok - You need to put all those in a JS function and call that function from the event. Something like
function ChangeDisplay(){
document.getElementById('div5').style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById('Div2').style.display = 'block';
}
Button1.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "ChangeDisplay();");

fixed it, I had the visibility set in the c# so had to disable that
cheers for all the help!

I don't know if your code got screwed up when you pasted it into the window, but first of all, it looks like you aren't closing the parenthesis ")" when you call openPopUp. If that is not the problem, maybe you could post what the output looks like when you view the source in the web browser since that will most likely clue us into the problem - the server-side code doesn't tell us anything because we don't know what the end result is.

Not possible. I suggest reading a book on what ASP.NET is and what it does. It's an engine for generating HTML. You can do some browser tricks that make it seem like the back button doesn't work, but you can easily side step those, as a user, by using the drop arrow or clicking twice real fast. Instead of trying to stop users from using basic browser functionality, you should fix your design so that it doesn't bother you if they do.

Say from Page1 user comes to page2
and if one wants to restrict the user from going back to page1
then within Page1 on the
Body onload event
write "history.go(1)"
which would not let the user come back to page1 from page2.
Hope this work.

Poor design and less reliable too
