I am writing a program that runs active sync and syncs a file on a device when it is put into the dock. I want to write a program or windows service that runs when active sync syncs up with the device. Is this possible?

It's possible only with windows service or working background programm which detect this device and then run main program.

Hello, i have a little problem with zedgraph (used in vb.net):
On a form lies one zedgraph which shows one chart (curve).
I want to resize the form, but not the chart/curve. In the form's resize event i set the size of the control.
With ZedGraphControl1
.Top = PanelPatientInfo.Top + PanelPatientInfo.Height
.Left = 0
.Height = Me.ClientSize.Height - .Top
.Width = Me.ClientSize.Width - .Left
End With
But when i do this the complete chart is scaled. (It is like zooming in/out...)
I want the maximum of the x and y axis to get greater/smaller.
How can i do that?
Thanks in advance!

Uhhh, maybe I just don't get the requirement, but if you don't want the chart to resize, why did you supply all this code to resize the chart??

Hmmm, ok...
Let me try to explain it.
When i resize the form (on which the zedgraph lies) then the zedgraph should fill the form. This is working fine.
What i want is: The bigger the form and the zedgraph control gets, the bigger the max value of the y/x axis should become.
Example:
My form is 200x200 pixel and the zedgraph too. The maximum value on the y axis is 200.
Now i resize the form manually to 300x300. So i want the max value on my y axis to increase from 200 to 300 too.
At the moment only the chart (which is contained in the control) gets resized.
How can i change the max value of my axis?
Many thanks in advance!

That's a question for a forum that specifically deals with ZedGraph. I have no idea how to use that library since I've never seen it. But, it sounds like all you have to do is take the width of the form and plug that into the Y-Axis of your graph. How you do that is a question for the people who wrote ZedGraph.

We have an application that we have installed on 3 PC's. I seems to work fine for the most part. We are having
a problem with one PC. There are 2 different people that login on this PC and use the application. If we install it under one login and the other login gets on they always get this message. "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable ?" It is trying to go back to the network location
from where the setup.exe and .msi file are. Any ideas why ? Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks
Tom

Is it possible that PC is trying to use the same instance of an application from both logons? That would lead to permission errors because one account would have access to the installation path, while the other user would not have access to that path.

I guess I don't understand why it goes back to the network and tries to reinstall when the program is already installed.

Well, you installed the program on one user account (was it an administrator?). If their is a single resource that is in conflict with another user logging in, the .NET framework (or the setup program you use) might try to correct this issue by reinstalling. It may try to correct the issue when their really is no reason to correct it. Many of Microsoft's programs do the same thing, when Office crashes or becomes corrupt, it will launch the installation program again to try to fix the issue.

Yes the user that installed it was an administrator. I have tried reinstalling but the problem keeps coming up.
Any ideas on how to stop it from trying to reinstall ?

Hello
I would like to know if there is a programmatic way to send an email message to someone from VBA in Word 2003? After searching a bunch of online references, I know there is an OUTLOOK object reference available that can be added to an existing project and that you can create an instance of the Outlook application but I do not know where to go from here. Every Outlook programming book I've peeked thru only addresses things you can do in Outlook itself, not things involving other office applications.
If I can invoke this Outlook task from Word, I will be much further ahead with my project. Everything else I have in my program works fine. Any help welcome.
Thanks!

here you go....
Sub Email()
Set objEmail = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
objEmail.From = ""
objEmail.To = ""
objEmail.Subject = "TEST"
objEmail.Textbody = "THIS IS A TEST EMAIL"
objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item _
("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendusing") = 2
objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item _
("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver") = "192.168.0.1"
objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item _
("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserverport") = 25
objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Update
objEmail.Send
MsgBox ("done")
End Sub

Hello,
First, thanks for providing me this script. I ran it and everything seems to work fine until I run into the last line of code:
objEmail.Send
I get the following runtime error message:
Run-time error '-2147220975 (80040211)':
The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc15. The server response was not available.
I am surprised to get this message because Outlook is already set up so I can send and recieve messages. Any suggestions?
Thanks again!

no problem...
If i am not mistaken, you will get this error if your SMTP address is incorrect or you might need to specify the Port Number to use.
check outlook outgoing port and smtp addresses.
hope this helps...let me know, will check in the morn ...

hi,
i m loading combo box in excel sheet with range of values using vb
now wht i need is if user selects the value from drop down the selected list item must be displayed in a cell automatically.
plz do need ful
|

|
|

I'm no expert in Office development, but I'd assume you'd have to handle some kind of SelectedItemChanged event for the combo and then retrieve that item and put it in the Value property of the cell you want, probably using Excel's Range object.
|
|
|
|
|
I have called upon the coding to load combo in excel sheet from vb
Set xlRange = xlSheet.Range("D" & CStr(intCurrencyCol), "G" & CStr(intCurrencyCol))
xlRange.Cells.Merge
xlRange.Font.Bold = True
xlSheet.OLEObjects.Add "Forms.ComboBox.1", Left:=lngLeft, _
Top:=lngTop, Width:=lngWidth, Height:=lngHeight
xlSheet.OLEObjects("ComboBox1").object.Name = "CURRENCYCOMBO"
xlSheet.OLEObjects("CURRENCYCOMBO").object.Font.Name = "Arial"
xlSheet.OLEObjects("CURRENCYCOMBO").object.Font.Size = 8
xlSheet.OLEObjects("CURRENCYCOMBO").object.Style = 2
with some range of value in combo box as
X = 0
For Each CCName In CurrencyNames
X = X + 1
xlSheet.Cells(X, 16) = Trim(CStr(CCName))
Next
If X > 0 Then
Set xlRange = xlSheet.Range("P1", "P" & CStr(X))
xlSheet.OLEObjects("CURRENCYCOMBO").object.ListFillRange = xlRange.Address
End If
all work fine now when the user change the item in combo its should be list out in another cell
how to handle event in excel through vb

Nice, vote me a 1 after I just get done telling you that I'm no expert in Excel programming...
But, since you added the combobox in code, not using the designer, it looks like you have to wire up the events yourself. You've just got even further away from my experience in Excel. This list[^] is about the best I can do for you.

hi
i have this commend to update but it did not work can any body Expected way it did not work
Dim Slots5Sec As New DataSet<br />
Dim DataAdapter6 As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(SqlSlots4Sec, con)<br />
Dim CmdB1 As New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(DataAdapter6)<br />
<br />
DataAdapter6.Fill(Slots5Sec, "Slot") ' fill the data set<br />
<br />
DataAdapter6.Update(Slots5Sec, "Slot")
i change in some value and i want to save it in db ?
|
|
|
|
|
That code you posted is incomplete, so you may not get an accurate answer...
asha_s wrote: DataAdapter6.Fill(Slots5Sec, "Slot") ' fill the data set
DataAdapter6.Update(Slots5Sec, "Slot")
But, you didn't make any changes to the dataset between the Fill statement (which, I'm assuming, retrieved a bunch of records from the database) and the Update statement (which writes changes back to the database.)
UPDATE:
I notice your messages down the forum. If you're trying to use an SQL statement that retrieves data from multiple tables, like using a JOIN, the SqlCommandBuilder will not generate UPDATE, DELETE, and INSERT commands for the DataAdapter. The DataAdapters only work with single table queries when performing updates. SELECT queries on multiple tables work just fine though.

Using the Setup project in Visual Studio, there's no way to change this stuff. You'll have to use a third party product to do this.
