I had the same problem when creating the parameter-dialogs for each element, when I had 20+ elements and tryed to open them the app was freezing. I got it improved by removing the CDialogs and using CFormViews, duplicating the views as I needed them. It gives more performance, more speed and more functionality (i.e. UpdateAllViews ()).
Paresh Chitte wrote: How could I share the dialogs across two documents ?
At the same time you are not going to be able of that. If you open the window for a document you should close it and reopen for another document. Or delete the contents of all elements and then fill them with the datas of the second element.
I made it adding a CMyDoc* pointer to the "parent" document as member variable in the CFormView, when I double-clicked on an element to be parametrized, then I got the document pointer in the CMyView and sent it to the CFormView of that element at the end of the opening process. Then used the OnInitialUpdate () to fill all the elements with the datas of the document.

Hope it helps

My program is working(accessing the device memory) in Pentium 1 and not working in Pentium 4
code for accessing ISA device memory:
unsigned int far* BaseAddr;<br />
BaseAddr = (unsigned int far *)MK_FP(0xD000,0x0000);

projectip wrote: How could i select a region of interest for constant tracking?
You have some choices:
1/ Buy a pair of binoculars and a folding chair, travel to that region, sit down, and watch for interesting things to happen.
2/ Buy a pay as you go mobile, a plastic bag, and a stick. Go to the region, put the phone in a plastic bag, hang that on a stick, and put a sign next to it saying "please phone me if you do something interesting".
3/ Make your question more explicit. Region? An area of the screen? Registry? Filesystem? (I assume it's computer related at least...)

By typing in "webcam" to the search box, I found the following article that could be of interest. Looks like clever stuff to me!

If you give some information about what you want to do, we can give helpful answers. If not, you get daft answers.

I already have as much as I can - I pointed you at an article by someone cleverer than me, that takes pictures with a webcam, and then processes them to extract information from them.
He is looking for faces - you could look for something different. But the ideas will be similar.
I wish you every success, as this is not an easy project.

We use a toolkit from LeadTools I believe it is the Raster Pro. They have an image list control that can include several images as thumbnails and then if you wish to click and display at a larger size you can. Most of the image types are run-time free but if you want others like PDF and such that SDK is extra and run-times.

You can use like this code for other formats
CImage m;
m.Load(_T("c:\\1.jpg"));
HBITMAP h=m.Detach();
and then set this handle .

I have been trying to delete files that is kept opened by another process. For this, I took the handle of the file, Duplicate it and the call the CloseHandle with that handle. It works fine for almost all files. But in some cases, even though I was able to close the handle, I coudn't delete it. I am able to rename it also. For eg the event log files like CstEvent.Evt, AppEvent.Evt etc in the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\config" folder (This files are used by services.exe).
If any one knows the reason, please tell me.
Thanks

A useful thought experiment... (Not my original idea).
Imagine if you could do what you want.
I'm sure you are a saint who loves puppies, but there are bad people out there too. And if you can do this thing, so can they. If a service (which is more important to system stability than a normal process, and usually lives in a different security context) tries to write to a file that suddenly stops existing, through no fault of its own, it could crash horribly and maybe take the system with it.
If you mess up files running under your own security credentials, then that's your own fault - and should not have a bad effect on the overall system.
Frankly, I'm surprised you can even rename those files while they're still opened.
I'm really struggling to think of a legitimate reason to do what you're asking, and many bad ones.

Iain Clarke wrote: I'm really struggling to think of a legitimate reason to do what you're asking, and many bad ones.
. Not for anything bad. Actaully I want to extent the feature in one of my utility OpenFileFinder[^]. In the initial stage I didnt give the close handle option purposefully cause I was also afraid that it may lead the application to an unstable state. But later I found that option is also a good one, when we cannot terminate the process( Like terminating service.exe will make the entire system unstable ). So I added that option.
I tried closing the handle using the process explorer also. But that also gave me same result. But with the UnLocker[^] utiltiy, I can delete the file. I coudnt understand what he have done in it
Iain Clarke wrote: Frankly, I'm surprised you can even rename those files while they're still opened.
NO no. I mean, I can rename the file after calling the CloseHandle with handle.

Unlocker utilizes a driver "\\DosDevices\\UnlockerDriver5" to unlink the handle from the kernels internel handle linked list. The driver file image is named 'UnlockerDriver5.sys' and resides in the installation folder. For most locked files it is using UnlockerHook.dll which is closing the file handle from inside the remote process. For those files locked by the SYSTEM it uses the driver.
I highly recommend that you do not duplicate this 'unlocking' behavior.
Best Wishes,
-David Delaune
