I have used "Visual C# step by step" by Microsoft Press as well as "SAMs Teach yourself the C# Language in 21 Days".
Both are good books for teaching the syntax of C#.
I also have C# Programmers CookBook also from Microsoft Press. It is very helpful once you begin to actually program.
The logic behind programming is a little tricky, How deep do you want to go?
So far, I have found that the best way to learn is by doing. (or getting a BS in Computer Science.)

Beginners series book by Wrox would also be a good option to learn C#

Hello
I'm trying to print a Bitmap created from CopyFromScreen
private void pd_PrintPage(object sender, PrintPageEventArgs ev)
{
Point pos = new Point(10, 10);
ev.Graphics.CopyFromScreen(this.Location,pos,new Size(4000, 4000));
ev.HasMorePages = false;
}
Unfortunately this 1000 x 1000 image is printed in a square of 1,5 inch on my printer
How can I resize that capture to print to the paper size
In the same topic I do not understand why if I'm printing +/- the same area but using a DrawImage the resulting printed size seems ok ??
private void pd_PrintPage(object sender, PrintPageEventArgs ev)
{
Point pos = new Point(10, 10);
ev.Graphics.DrawImage(pb_zoom.Image,pos);
ev.HasMorePages = false;
}

Change the printer DPI AFAIK.

Hello
You know how to do it ?
|
|
|
|
|
I need to beef up my resume with some design patterns.
Which design patterns give you the most bang for the buck on your resume.
I know MVC and Singleton.
|
|
|
|
|
So when you tell your interviewer you know the MVC pattern, or the flyweight, or the abstract pattern, and he asked how you used it, you're gonna be stuck.
Reworking a CV for a particular role is ok, but beefing it up with stuff you have no commerical experience of is easily found out (IMHO) - I've tried it!!

I've got every programming job I ever went for. I think one big reason is, I never lie. Lie, and you'll be found out. IF you don't know it, say so.
I wouldn't take a job that was only hiring if I knew certain design patterns ( although odds are that I do )

Generally:
Put your name, address, phone number, and email address at the top, centered, perhaps bold.
Don't use graphics or fancy-schmancy typefaces.
Do use plain white paper.

Hello,
In deploying my application it is required that it attach a sql server database to the .net framwork sql engine because there is no servers in the client computer.
How can I accomplish this task (deploying the app with out having a full running instance of sql server)?
Thanks.

There is a SQL Server embedded now, which can be ( as the name implies ) embedded in your application. I've not used it, but I am hoping to sometime soon, it seems very cool to me.

I am trying to get the path of the executing .exe, but so far with no luck. I have tried
Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase
but this just returns the path to the .dll
does anyone know how to get the path of the .exe?

Application.ExecutablePath ist what you're looking for.

string path1 = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CodeBase);
string path2 = System.Environment.CurrentDirectory;
using System.Windows.Forms;
string path3 = Application.ExecutablePath;
The value for path1 on my system is "file:\\K:\\VS2008\\ConsoleTester\\ConsoleTester\\bin\\Debug"
The value for path2 on my system is "K:\\VS2008\\ConsoleTester\\ConsoleTester\\bin\\Debug"
The value for path3 on my system is "K:\\VS2008\\ConsoleTester\\ConsoleTester\\bin\\Debug\\ConsoleTester.exe"

Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().CodeBase will give you the full .exe URI. To get the full file system path, use:
Path.Combine(Path.GetDirectoryName(Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().CodeBase), Path.GetFileName(Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().CodeBase));
