There are a lot of ways for telling things but calling people "idiot" is offal. You call him idiot before knowing why he wrote twice the same thing. So what, big deal!
I think that you should first apologize and instead the site administrator I was giving you a warning.

Got an app that calls a shell to run tracert.exe using a user inputed destination. That works fine, but the shell disappears before you can see the results. Is there any way to keep the shell window open longer or is there a better way of doing the trace route?
|
|
|
|
|
Not a specific answer, but you can pipe the results of a command execution back to your program so you can then show it or do whatever with it. I think this[^] is VB6 code but it should get you in the right direction.
You might want to check out this excellent article[^] instead of calling tracert.exe.

You may use Process and ProcessInfo class to achieve the desired scenario:
Dim process1 As New Process
Dim processInfo As New ProcessStartInfo
processInfo.UseShellExecute = False
processInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
processInfo.Arguments = "10.64.1.40"
processInfo.WorkingDirectory = "C:\windows\system32"
processInfo.FileName = "tracert"
process1.StartInfo = processInfo
process1.Start()

Hi everybody,
My app was displaying each and every one of the 16 reports (crystal) I have. Suddenly, reports no longer appear on screen (reportviewer). The code has not been modified at all in months. All sub-routines seem to work and my try..catch structures do not detect any errors
I really do not know where to start. Can anybody offer some help?
Thank you very much.
Best Regards.
Alex.

Do your procs return data
Presumably you are running a database - check Profiler to make sure the proc is being called correctly
Make sure the proc returns the correct data (error may be date related).
Shoot Crystal Reports - sorry but it is really a crappy program.

Hi RAH,
I have verified the stored procedures and they do work fine; in fact I tried pointing my app to CR2008 libraries instead of the ones bundeled with .net, and all reports work.
I aggree with your assertion about CR.
any more ideas? it is imperative that I understand what caused this in the first place, so that I can solve and prevent it from happenig again.
Thanks.

Good Afternoon All
I decided to post this as a Different post, because i might be confusing people by tryying to tackle two problem in one thread. Am using VS2003, if i create a new Project i can debug and the Green button to Debug is enabled, but i have an Existing Solution with Multiple Projects in it and the Green button is Disabled. What is wrong in my Solution Settings, because the only option is "Start without Debbuging"
Thanks

Check your configuration manager settings; it sounds like it is set to 'Release' instead of 'Debug'.

A space is a recognised character (Chr 32) so your application is searching for a string that starts with a SPACE. To counter the problem you need remove the leading and or trailing white space by using the String.Trim() method. It removes all the spaces that are not between other Characters. So " this and that " will be changed to "this and that"

No, you can't change a cell's style that easily in VB.NET 2003. You have to derive a class from DataGridTextBoxColumn, override the paint-method and do the drawing yourself.
Try this article:

Hi there,
I have a requirement to add a custom signing object to a Microsft Word Document using .Net. The object should always manifest itself as a picture, i.e. wen u open or print the document, u see a picture in this case a signature. If an add-in that I have to develop is installed on the same machine, right clicking on the object should also show my custom menus in the popup menu.
So my challenges are, how to create the custom object in .net (how can i extend the Image/Bitmap Class and add my own methods properties and evends) and how do I add this custom object and menu to Word?
I appreciate any pointers in any direction that myt be helpful.
Regards
