I have tried to put some space at to the end of the text, but it is still the same. Is it the problem of my method?
I use
C_cdc->DrawText("abcd ",7,cdcRect,DT_VCENTER|DT_SINGLELINE);
or
I should use other method?
Please help!

[SetColorAdjustment^] has most of the options that you can apply on DC, for others I think you may need to manipulate in bitmap that you draw on the DC.

You may be trying to build the Unicode version and do not have the unicode libraries installed. Use the build toolbar to just build the Win32 Debug or Win32 Release configurations instead.
See if this helps.
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

It seems you you are building for Unicode configuration, the required library is missing, may be you need to rerun the setup and the setup configuration should specify unicode support for MFC, It depends on the version of compiler
for instance see,
"NOTE: The MFC Unicode libraries are NOT installed by default; you can rerun setup and select only the Unicode MFC libraries"
from [INFO: Unicode Support in the Microsoft Foundation Class Library^]
and
"To copy the files to your hard disk, rerun Setup and click Add/Remove Features. Click Language Tools, click Visual C++, and click Visual C++ Class & Template Libraries, and select both ATL MFC Shared Libraries Unicode and ATL MFC Static Libraries Unicode. This will copy the following files to your hard drive:"
from [Unicode and Multibyte Character Set (MBCS) Support^]

I've have Visual C++ 6.0 from awhile back. I'm planning to do more programming again (haven't done much the past 10 years). Should I upgrade to some newer Version of C++. If so, which one and what are the advantages?
Thanks!

I advise you so.
the VC++6 compiler was written before the C++ standard got official, so it's not really compliant. since then, VS2003 made a good improvement, but if you can get a copy of VS2008, feel free to.
be be aware that you won't be able to do MFC with the Express version.
