I am having trouble with my grid view. I have a couple of drop down list that are binded to their own SQLDataSource using the same connection string as what the gridview uses. One drop down box is binded to list all the radios assigned to a person. So it list all the people under the ASsigned_To Column (Distinct). Ok works good. Now the other one is by the Tag number on the radios. List all the tag numbers that are in the database, works good.
Now when I choose a person lets say Jacob Dixon, the grid view ONLY displays the radios that are assigned to me. That is how it is suppose to work. Now when I click the UPDATE button after doing this select statement (which is done by the gridview datasource: GridViewDataSource.SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM Radio_Table WHERE Assigned_To = DropDownList1.SelectedValue.ToString()";
but after you click the update it refreshes the gridview I guess its doing a DataBind when you click update (I dont know hwere, I didn't put it in there), then it refreshes it and puts all the information back in there and uses the first item in the list to do the update. Which isnt the row I clicked update on.
Now if I have the gridview display all the information and go to page 3 or whatever page and click update it works correctly. Both display the textboxes so you can update, but only one selects the correct row you clicked update on.
Also how do I set it where Tag_Number column cannot have duplicate numbers? Like Row 1 tag_number cannot have 5050, and row 50 tag_number cannot have 5050 also. They have to be different. This information is entered in by the user but if there are duplicate tag_numbers then the user messed up somewhere on entering data because in our agency you cannot have duplicate tag numbers with our products.

Um Im not using any javascript code for this page, its using an ajax control which I guess has some javascript written in it.
heres all the code:
<%@ Register
Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit"
Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit"
TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">
<asp:ScriptManager ID="test1" runat="server"></asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="UpdatePanel1" >
<ContentTemplate>
<div style="width:230px;height:100px">
<asp:Panel ID="timer" runat="server"
Width="250px" BackColor="White" ForeColor="DarkBlue"
BorderWidth="2" BorderStyle="solid" BorderColor="DarkBlue" style="z-index: 1;">
<div style="width: 100%; height: 100%; vertical-align: middle; text-align: center;">
<p>Current Time:</p>
<span id="currentTime" runat="server" style="font-size:xx-large;font-weight:bold;line-height:40px;"/>
</div>
</asp:Panel>
<ajaxToolkit:AlwaysVisibleControlExtender ID="avce" runat="server"
TargetControlID="timer"
VerticalSide="Top"
VerticalOffset="10"
HorizontalSide="Right"
HorizontalOffset="10"
ScrollEffectDuration=".1" />
</div>
<p>
Choose a position for the clock from the list below. Scroll your browser window to see
the control maintain its always-visible position.
</p>
<p>
</p>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

Just hide the checkbox column and make visible when needed, this will save you creating a new column on the fly

I have an upload section to a site I have built where users can upload whatever files they want. Upon upload a new name is created using a randon string generator and saved into one folder. The new name and the original name are then stored in a database. Simple
The files are then displayed in a table on a page where the name of the link is the original name and the randon string name is the absolute link to the real file. This works fine but the file once downloaded comes with the random string as it's file name. How can I alter the name of the file back to it's original name when selected for download?
I don't have access to IIS so this needs to be done in code on the fly?
Many Thanks

Can't you set the new name in the Content-Disposition header?
Check out a quick example here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260519[^]

Yes I guess this is an option. This is exactly the same code that I use to output an Active Report to the user. It does of course invoke a postback though and additional processing. Can you see any issue with this? Any other options?
Presumably I would need to load the file in my code into say a memory stream?

How about response.writefile or response.transmitfile rather?

Hmm the original method you suggested seems to work fine. The only problem is I won't be able to do this from inside an update panel. Any suggestions?

Further to this the content disposition method can't handle white space in the file name. I have been forced to run a quick replace to turn them all into underscores. Not ideal but I can live with it? Any suggestions to allow whitespace?

No. I think it takes it. Did you try escaping them and sending it to the web browser?

How would you escape the spaces in this way. If I have;
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + ThisFile.FriendlyName)
Thanks

Yeah the ajax control known as the updatepanel. It doesn't allow the write though and errors.

I think we can not able to scoll treeview but there are many ways.
Put tree view in div tag,fix division height and width and set overflow style as scroll.
