Hi all,
I want to know wether we can animate images in datalist or repeater in asp.net..If so please tell me the property...
in which we can animate the image horizontal or vertical like that

There is no property. I recommend you read a book on ASP.NET and learn what it does, and how HTML works.
You can move an image using javascript, but an animated GIF is probably your best bet.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for working with a DataSet in Javascript/AJAX.NET?
I have seen examples that return a DataSet in a WebMethod and work with the tables and rows from the returned result but I get a 'circular reference while deserializing' error message...
I want to be able to call a WebMethod asynchronously, return a DataSet and then populate and Infragistics WebGrid with the data.
How do I get the data from the DataSet into the client script?
Thanks for any help...

Can you post your code and the line that you are getting the error?

Thanks for the reply.
I have a webmethod server side:
<WebMethod> _
Public Shared Function GetDataSet() As DataSet
'Get dataset here...
Return ds
End Function
Client Side:
function GetData()
{
PageMethods.GetDataSet(onSuccess, onFail);
}
function onSuccess(result)
{
alert(result.tables[0].rows[0].ColumnName);
}
function onFail(e)
{
alert(e.get_message());
}
Stepping through, the webmethod runs without error but I get a Deserialization error alert from the onFail function.
I have done what the AJAX.NET example I've seen here http://www.ajaxpro.info/Examples/DataSets/default.aspx[^] suggests but I get the above error.
Is there something else I need to do, webconfig setting etc?

I have a dynamic GridView and I wanted to set some column properties like:
NewDg.Columns[1].ItemStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Left;
But it gives me index out of bounds exception.
Any ideas?

I want to create a interactive blog page for my web site, I have a template web site with one page setup already for a blog, but it only allows me to input the html text I would like to have a blog which is interactive and people can make comments below and rate the blog? Is there some way to do this in a cost effective way?

I tried to put everything in the subject in case we can resolve this here and so it can be found. Site is running in IIS with ASP.NET 2. I use mainly C# and have also have IIS version of PHP.
The error I speak of is returned when using Dns.Resolve() or Dns.GetHostAddresses(). Deprecated or not I tried resolve() which actually was more consistent across environments including desktop app from personal computer. Sometimes GetHostAddresses() didn't work at all.
I am attempting to validate emails from an ASP.NET site without actually sending an email. Using Sockets works in this case if you can get the end point which I was hoping Resolve() or GetHostAddresses() would do. We are not owners of the server, we are being hosted so I am not given access to nslookup which does work in this situation.
It seems there are some domain names out there that aren't really. One I speak of is sbcglobal.net. If I didn't have an sbcglobal.net email I may have never had ran into this myself and possibly counted a number of email invalid. So GEE! thanx AT&T for gobbling up SBC and giving something to beat my head on. So there you go, there is something you can test with. Try the name sbcglobal.net.
So does anybody know how nslookup can get this info (Querying MX records) and how I can duplicate that somehow in code behind. I use primarily C# for ASP.NET but have no problem with reading VB and translating. C++ using .NET would be fine as well.
I've looked all over the web and obviously here. I'm either not searching the right words, not hitting the right combo of phrases, or just nobody has bothered asking about this.
Here's links I went to and some of the code works fine as long as the DNS resolves.
.NET Code using Sockets[^]
Most sort of follow this same idea when using sockets. There are others but rely on a process call to nslookup. If you use this link and code it refers to something at egghead. Just right your own GetData. The one from egghead would hang because it was checking for and waiting on a value in .Available and not timing out. If you used streams before it should be easy to create your own as I ended up doing.
Also I was going to try PHP but checkdnssr is not available in IIS version of PHP as far as I can find.
Thanx ahead for any help.

Dear all,
From your experiences, does encrypting the query string help in preventing sql injection?
Thanks a lot,
Chris

It seems to me the wrong solution to the problem. To prevent injection attacks you should be using parameters for all values. If you are dynamically building strings you shouldn't be using direct user input. This will protect your sql stamtents at the level they should be. If an attacker finds away around your protections they you're subject to attacks all over again. Properly written sql is the only way to prevent against attacks - parameters and never concatenating user input into your strings.

Hello all,
I am not even sure I am in the right forum but I hope someone can assist me. I have googled this and cannot figure it. I have a WebService that needs to use the URL QueryString. I have the following code in the WebService:
HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["Lookup"].ToString())
But nothing is listed when I debug the WebService. Am I doing something wrong here? Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance for your time.

I know in Csharp you don't need .ToString().
Say I have this: www.blah.com/test.aspx?State=Arkansas
Querystring: Request.QueryString["Arkansas"];
|
|
|
|
|
I removed the QueryString but to no avail.

I created this:
protected void GridView_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
txtIDField.Text += "TEST";
}
I double clicked the SelectedIndexChanged in the gridview properties. It made that and that is just a test..
But for some reason when you click the select button (auto-generated by the grid view) it does not seem to fire that event?
What I am wanting is when the user clicks SELECT it stores the ID column (PRimary Key) into a textbox or variable. This way
I have a delete command (a link button) that they click and it deletes the current row selected.
I do not want to use the DELETE generated by the grid view.

Ok I have it in a UPDATE Panel and that is what it stopping it from working..
But when I add a record I have it pull up another page to add records. How do I get the gridview to update when the record is added from another page if I cannot use the UpdatePanel?

Hi All, I have a problem. I builded a web service and one of the web methods is returning a response with the data like ID, Name and Status. Everything works good when I am testing it with the web service, and I am getting the response in a xml response document. Now I want the response what I get from the web service to put in a GridView and to use in my web project. I don't know how should I get the response from the web service and to put in a gridview. Any suggestions?? Thx ahead

You are testing a web service with a web service?

If you don't know how to get the response from the web service how are you testing it?

You are testing a web service with a web service? [Confused]
Answer: Ok, I explained little bit confusing, I wanted to say, that, when I am running the web service from the original location, like when you are debugging or running from the original code, before referencing to some project.
answer for the 2nd question:
I want to know how to get the response from the web client, that is the problem what is bothering me.

The original location? Don't you think using terminology like, projects, solutions, web servers, windows forms application, and things like that would be more clear than saying "original location"? If you are not going to take the time to think about and formulate your posts, why should anyone here give you their time by trying to help you?

Every example I have ever seen about building a web service has included how to call it from a client application. Are you reading or working from the documentation or articles or books or something about Web Services? If not, you should be.
Also there are many articles with example code about loading a GridView from XML. Try using Google, it should be no problem finding them.

Hi all,
I have created a gridview with batch update like the one discussed here[^]. Now I want to cascade two drop downs in it. Actually, I have a projects drop down list and a task drop down list that needs to be filtered when the user selects a project. Any ideas.
Thanks,
