I'd rather have a article with little explanation but some code rather than no article at all and if you are really confused about something you could always ask in the forums.

Well, yeah, but that's supposed to be the point of an article - not just *how* you do it, but *why* you're doing it that way. Believe me, without the second bit, your code is going to break badly sooner or later, & you'll just be guessing as to where or why. There are plenty of sites with just code (*cough* *cough* earthweb *cough*) around already.

I don't think it is asking to much if the editors or users of CP would like you to write better articles. It doesn't take that much effort.
IMO, Good articles are what makes CP better than CodeGuru and any other code repository on the web.

You're asking too much mate.
Never forget that users either want to learn something, or just rip the code (copy/paste), or forward it to someone else, or even (as I shamely do) sometimes browse the articles telling myself that there must be an interest of doing just this!
Because you don't know the kind of user you are facing, you IMHO cannot really ask for better articles. And please don't answer back asking CP editors to add CRM or other cookie-tracking. Nuke!
Though of course better articles may serve as a general purpose, browsability of the wealth of articles is just as important to me,
And I swallow a small raisin.

If an artical doesn't have and explanation etc it normally won't get entered into the main sections of CP. Unless it's really bad it will probably be lef tin the unedited section so that the author can update it.

Just think it might be a good idea to put Student as an option in the 'Occupation' section of the Profile... It's not exactly an occupation per se but I'm sure a lot of CP members are Students.
Also... is it possible to see a spread of the occupations... perhaps on the demographics page.

I think being a student is an occupation; even if it isn't a paid occupation;
Students are occupied partying; protesting; and doing fun stuff.

I do the partying and having fun bits but I'm normally too tired or hungover to do any protesting.. and it always rains here in Ireland when the protests are on, so I just stay in bed and leave it to the more enthuastic students to do that

Your articles have been edited. You'll need to send the updates in to CP & let your editor update them. (See far bottom left of article page for editor)

How about somehow reincorporate the most helpful with it.
But only those that have helped can vote that it was helpful.
And of course stop multi-voting or over voting depending on your helpfulness status.

Some emoticons have restrictions like that so that code comes out properly. For example if you write CMyView::DoStuff you don't want the colon-D part showing up as

I was wondering that myself.. Thanks for the explanation Michael

This may be an internet explorer setting or not, but it's driving me crazy. When I click on the article comments at the bottom of articles, the dhtml type thing engages but then, and this is the crappy part, ie reloads the entire page. This is some bigtime flicker and it's driving me crazy. Again, I'm not sure if it's a change in CP or IE but I'd appreciate any help that anyone has.
Thanks,
Darren

Chris,
Here's a suggestion. I'd like to be able to configure my profile so that when I go to the "What's New" page and click on links, it opens new windows instead of opening the articles in the same window.
Thanks,
Darren

The debate about new windows vs current window is an old and bitter one. Bowing to standards I'm minimising the number of new windows that open up.
As Paul says, there is always Shift+click or right-click/Open New Window.

That's why I said make it a user preference in "My Settings". That way you can please everyone. Just default to your standard but allow your user community to set their preferences.
