The articles I mentioned are actually substandard (poor or no explanation), but maybe the code is indeed very interesting. What I mean we need a way to let the authors know they're making own goal.

I feel that in Events and Get-To-Gether forums there must be certain special extensions.
1) Till the date of the event, a full length discussion can be allowed.
2) After the event date, the following can be adopted:
(a) Lock the thread from further debating.
(b) Post the announcement [reply] thread in the context indicating that the event is complete with an optionally available URL from a weblog or the event organizer update.
Wouldn't this make the event forum more comprehensive collection of events?

Thank you. That would really enhance and extend the 'Get-To-Gether' forum as a quick lookup even after that particular event.

Let's say you are viewing an article that has many messages that span on multiple pages. If you wish to view messages on second page you click on '2'. After that the whole page is reloaded including the article and messages from second page appear. I think it would be better if the article didn't get reloaded and only messages changed. It would make loading messages on other pages quicker.

This is exactly how we used to have it but then the prevailing wisdom at the time was that it meant discussions were being shown without the context of the article in question so we removed that feature.

How about just loading the forum itself in an IFRAME and refreshing that...?

I am glad to see the jobs board back and wanted to give you some feedback. First, I think $299 is too expensive for what is essentially a new, unproven service. For the next six months, I suggest you offer the first posting free. Second, for the first year of this service, I suggest $199/mo. for the first month, with subsequent months at half price.
I'm sure you're pitching the premium pool of developers here at CP, but your competition is still craigslist.

Hmm, I have to disagree. $299 is peanuts considering the cost of sourcing potential candidates, interviewing them, hiring them and then training them. I wouldn't think twice about spending that amount for a job posting here. Heck, last time I hired people I spent more than double that just to place adverts in the paper. The hook, for me, would be direct exposure to a targeted talent pool. A second hook (first posting free) doesn't do anything IMO to make the service more attractive. The big risk of offering freebies is that anyone, including joe-blow and his buddy who might want to start some development thing can use it to test the waters and waste everyones time not to mention polluting the list for serious job advertisers.
Cheers,
Drew.

Josh is back as Chief Master C#. I know Maunder is already aware of it (based on posts in SB). Just a warning to all if his account has not been disabled yet.

What's the point in banning him anyway? He'll just create new acounts on and on. Just leave him alone and eventually he'll get bored with it.

Hi Chris,
Not sure if you are still interested in adjusting the voting system to remove "spurious" votes. I had sent you a simple little algorithm that could adjust for the outliers and wonder if you received it? I think my email/post got lost in the shuffle.
If not I can always resend, or if you're not interested I'll just leave it.
Cheers.

I am interested but didn't get your email. Could you resend please?

The "email" link - it simply does not work. I've faced this issue several times.

Yes it does. If:
a) You're sending to a member who has a confirmed email address
b) there are no issues with actually getting an email past whatever filters and blocks are between us and you.
cheers,

I just clicked on the email link on my own message and sent a test email. I never received it. There are no filters to stop, I am using Yahoo mail, I checked the spam folder as well (I've given the thing enough time to reach me as well, but to no luck).
It is just not me, there are other members who have faced this issue and this has been discussed once in a while on different places of the site. I've been appreciating the good things, but I'll need to tell you the bad things as well. Trust me, the email thing doesn't work! It may work with your account, but I guess there are a few more million accounts around that you need to get it work with.

See here[^].
PS: I never receive an email if someone else sends me via this option. May be we should take a little survey on this.
