Unless you want to do a postback then you have to use a client side script, Javascript is thye defacto standard.

Postback - server side code - asp.net
without postback - client side code - javascript
simple
you either use asp.net to do postback
or jaavscript to do a clinet side command
you cant not postback and then not use jaavscript

This has been asked loads of times over the last few weeks, it must be some sort of homework or course work somewhere. Try a search of the forums for PDF and you will find all you need to know.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I am working on a project which needs URL rewriting. I am facing a bit problem with it. I defined following config sections in web.config for URL rewriting.
<RewriterRule>
<LookFor>~/(\w*)/Development\.aspx</LookFor>
<SendTo>~/Default.aspx?module=$1</SendTo>
</RewriterRule>
<RewriterRule>
<LookFor>~/(\w*)/Edit/(\d+)(.*)/Development\.aspx</LookFor>
<SendTo>~/Default.aspx?module=$1</SendTo>
</RewriterRule>
There might be a case where no one can simply expect how many parameters will be there in one url. For that second rule is satisfied, but when it comes to passing all those unknown parameters is becoming a big problem. Please help me.

You can also re-write the URL withing the Application_BeginRequest method of the Global.asax file. I believe that the advantgae of doing it this way is that it can be dome programmatically using regualar expressions. Or you can store a 'Friendly URL' in your database for each page and retrive it for each page request.

You don't need ^ and $ to mark the beginning and end when you use a regular expression in a validation control.
Use this to match any integer from 1 and up:
[1-9]|\d{2,}
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Here i have a problem witt session state.
In my loging page i am saving the login id in a session variable which i am using all over the application as usual.
Here the problem is,if i am doing any operation immediately after login that session value is working.
if i stop any operation for 5 mts and continue to do like insert,update etc,it is giving error.Error is about expecting the session variable's value.
how can i give a message that session has been expired and one must login again.
The problem is arising only when i stop somtime and continue to do something from stopping point.

What you can do in the web.config file is to set the login to time out after 60 mintues and then re-direct to a certain page.
In your case you need to check if the session is empty and if it is re-direct to another page something like this:
if (Session["sess1"] != null)
{
}
else
{
response.redirect("page.aspx")
}
