I'm using VS 2005 on .Net 2.0 and need to create 2 server controls in C#. The one needs to display an image and the other a video and they need to be able to have associated properties. Is that possible?
I've tried researching on Google but most info is fo VS 2008 on .Net3.5.
Can anyone offer me some advice on where to start or have sample code that can help me find my way?
Thanks

Displaying an image is trivial, it's an img tag. Displaying a video is different, you need to embedd a java or activeX control that does it for you.

Hi
I am facing an issue in displaying links in a page.
The problem is as follows:
Inputs provided are;
a configuration parameter in web.config pointing to another folder in the solution which contains 50-100 files (Exes)
While clicking on an image(Help icon), I want another i explorer window to come up with the links to these exes and the exes should be executed. The link names should be the file names of the exes.
The logics I tried are to use a .js file which contains onHelpClick() method which will be called when I click on the icon.
The configuration parameter has taken in to a variable and is used in the java script.
The issue now is, I am not able to get the filenames from the folder and the display of it as the link is not working. I implemented this in an aspx file I created by using 'Scripting.FileSystemObject' but is not invoking properly because, I am not able to give the filename extracted in to <a href ="" onclick....> tag properly and whic gives me errors.
I also tried to use tag to open the window with the links....
Please advice with a good solution to this as soon as possible and a sample code will be helpful because I am struggling with this for the last two days.

I see - you were spamming the site.
You need to explain what you're doing. You can't launch an exe from a web page.

why sir ? we can launch as exe as process. then what is the problem ?
This is just an example.
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
Process P = new Process();<br />
P.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\\windows\\notepad.exe";<br />
P.Start();<br />
}

You can launch EXE, no problem. But it will be launched on the server and not on the client machine. So what's the use ?

Does your third party software provide any API for that ? if yes you can change the Size of GUI.
|
|
|
|
|
The third party API is irrelevant, if he launches another app, he's going to use ShellExecute or Process.Start.

I am Thankfull for ur response.
Here I am facing 2 Problems.
1. From my ASP.Net web application I am calling an exe using javascript.
Here is my code.
var h;
h=new ActivexObject("wscript.shell");
h=run("c:\\sample.exe /v") ;
h=null;
So I am able to run it on client side. But as it is a third exe I am unable to set its location, size attributes. I pleed ur help in this regard.
2. In some other application I need to call a third party exe from my windows application. I am completely new to these C APIs and using dlls in applns, so suggest whate are the APIs to be used in what manner. Where from do I get this information.
I feel sorry for confusing you,
Thank U all,
kiran

1 - AFAIK, you can't set size and other attributes via JS.
2 - You can use Process class and call Process.Start() . It allows you to control how the targeted exe should run.

hi,
Have any method that can retrieve record from database then export it to Excel file(the function that set the width of each field is needed)
Have any idea....

The server can do this. ASP.NET will not be involved in the process tho. It will be code that uses the Excel libraries, and will require excel on the server.
