Explain NullReferenceException? How to resolve it?

It's when you try to something with an object, but the object hasnt been created.
Look at MSDN for tons of examples.

Fix your code. If you don't know how, post it so we can explain it to you.

It occurs when you are accessing an object with NULL value. Make sure you instantiated object using new keyword.

I need to get the _Application (or _Document) interface from a running Word application. I know how to get this interface using ROT, but I need to do it in a deferent way.
In my case, I run in the context of the Word process (not as add-in). When I am inside the process I would like to get the running Word’s _Application interface so I can listen to events.
Thanks

Hi! I want to populate a listview with items from the database, can someone help me how should I start...I really don't know how to populate...thx ahead

ListView doesn't support data binding, I guess. You can fetch data into a DataTable, iterate rows and add list items manually. I have got one article here[^] which explain the data binding in ListView. Take a look at that too.
Hope this helps.

Hello
I'm using oracle 9i db and my connection string is,
"Data Source=HDLOCAL; User Id=HDLOCAL; Password=HDLOCAL; Unicode=True;";
I want to turn off autocommit.
What changes required in the connection string?
TIA,
Leena

I think you are understanding incorrectly.
Look at DbTransaction , this will allow you to control your own transaction.

Hi,
I have encountered a situation where i need to list all the softwares installed that are either trial versions or do not have a registration Key.
Please recommend how to approach n useful links/code samples if possible.

I doubt there's any way to do that. The mechanism to make something a trial differs. You can do it, for known programs that you specifically detect, and specifically know how to tell if they are trial versions.

I guarentee you that my software does not have this attribute. You cannot tell without knowing how my application works, specifically, if it is a trial version or not.

OK, let me get this right - if a customer asks for it, it must be possible ?

You can't. Still. You CANNOT tell if they are trial versions, unless the word 'trial' appears in their name or something.

I think you must be new to this game. Just because the customer wants it doesn't meant its actually possible! Learn the art of managing expectations.
