I got that Visual Studio 2003 does not recognize the tag cr:crystalreportviewer
and this is the error source
So, how to embed a crystaReportViewer in my aspx page?

Hi everyone,
While pressing on SUBMIT button, i want confirmation box with selected text.
Suppose some making an order of some shares for some values.
I want confirmation that you are going to place an order for X share for X rates. are you sure?
How to do with ASP.NET? I have AJAX Toolkit also. I have tried confirmation box of AJAX but not getting dynamic text.
Thanx in Advance

If I faced this problem, I would do the follwoing:
I will set the submit button property visble = False , Caption="Yes"
and create another invisible reset button with caption = "No"
and invisible Lable to hold the confirmation message
and pushButton with caption = "Submit/Send" which is actually not a submit button
Once the user click the virtual submit, set all invisible controls to visible, generate the message with dynamic text and path it to the lable
If the user clieked "Yes" it will submit
If he/she clicked "No", the form is cleared and set visible controls to invisible again
I hope you like the idea

Thx for reply.
Solution which you give is alternate solution for me. With your suggestion it will work. but can't we popup message into messagebox like desktop application?
|
|
|
|
|
Here is a quick example, you would want to make this a dynamic function though to get whatever values you need from the form controls.
<asp:Button ID="Button1" OnClientClick="return confirm('You have selected \'X\' number of shares....'); " runat="server" Text="Button" />

The only way is javascript (like shown in the below posts)
But, take care that client can disable javascript code

I assume you have a HTML submit button. Write some javascript function on "onclick" event. Inside jvascript fiunction you must put a javascript confirmation which returns true or false. Accordingly your function will also return true or false.
Its the property of Submit button which automatically stops sending data to server if onlcick function returns false.
pseudocode
function onclickfunction ()
{
var answer = confirm("you are going to place an order for X share for X rates. are you sure")
if(answer)
{
return true;
}
else
{
return false
}
}
you have call above function in this way:
<input type="submit" onlclick="return onclickfunction ()" />
NB: Dont miss "return" statement from calling code.

Hi.
I couldn't find a forum for Ajax so I guess it falls under asp.net.
I'm working on a timesheet control that consists of a gridview with a column for each day.
The column consists of a textbox for working hour input and an imagebutton for entering a comment for the given day.
I've been trying to add a ModalPopupExtender to the item template and to set the imagebutton ClientID to the extenders TargetControlID property. This is for displaying the input controls for the comment.
Setting the imagebutton id to the TargetControlID property in the markup doesn't work as the imagebuttons id is dynamically created for each row when the gridview performs the databinding.
I've been experimenting with the gridviews OnPreRender method where I iterate over the rows, locate the imagebutton and extender for the given row, and set the TargetControlID.
I get a asp.net error stating:
The TargetControlID of 'commentModalPopupExtender' is not valid. A control with ID 'ctl00_Main_timesheetControl_gvTimeSheet_ctl02_imBtnMondayComment' could not be found.
As far as I know, that id looks exactly right according to what I've seen when I look at the source of the page.
Anyone who've encountered (and solved) this problem?
Best regards!
Larantz

my case i have i table with identity column named invoices
when i insert in it the auto identity column assign a value
but i want the customer see the invoice no before i add it in the table
to use it in any search in th future is the any way
my q in another way
I have a form with a label that should show an invoice number. The invoice
number should be generated by sql Server using an autoincremented technique.
However, after reading several articles, it seems that I can only retrieve
this value after an INSERT has been done in the database. I want to find out
what this autoincremented before an insertion.
thnks in advice

How would u taste an apple without eating it????
Thats not possible!!!! Eventhough you can initiall show the last invoice no when your page loads, its uncertain that the same will be inserted because in a client server architecture ,the database is shared and u never know some body may have generated an invoice when you were filling your invoice data.
When you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.

For this situation, I do not recommend Autoincreament ID
I think simple Integer is suitable
And to manage the problem of client-server arch. I suggest the follwing scenario:
- Add new field of datatype bool to your Invoices table, name it "isReserved" , say
- Once a client initiates an invoice, it is saved with new ID (isReserved=false by default)
- if an invoice is completed and the client pressed save button, set isReserved=True , otherwise false
- any client will try to initiate new invoice will get the first invoice number saved with isReserved=false , if none, will get the new invoice number (max+1)

Ofcource the new invoice number = last invoice number + 1
So, get the maximum invoice number, increase it by 1, display the new number in the lable
Hobe this solve your problem

Does your website ever have more than one user ? If so, then adding one to the top number will not work, you need to create an empty row to 'hold' that number for the current user.

How about asking the customers to add you to their white list?
or to mark your emails as not spam?

Hi,
Let’s consider two dates for example…
DateTime dtToday = DateTime.Parse("08:00AM 07/05/2008");
DateTime dtSomeDay = DateTime.Parse("11:00AM 07/05/2008");
Use this code to subtract.
TimeSpan ts = dtSomeDay.Subtract(dtToday);
int iDays = ts.Days;
int iHours = ts.Hours;
you will get the result in TimeSpan, there you decide which element of it you want to devide by the given value…
Hope its clear.
Thx,
Gayani
