Ask yourself these questions:
In what context? Are you talking about open source targetting the .NET platform only?
Is it asking what open source frameworks replace ADO.NET? (None that I know of. There are some that are a wrapper around ADO.NET, but ADO.NET is still being used to access the underlying database)
What does ADO.NET do? What open source equivalents are there? How do each of these technologies work? Can you show the exact same task being performed in ADO.NET versus an open source equivalent?

Make the textbox Readonly... or
you can write e.handled=true in Keypress event of that textbox.

AFAIK, a scanner is a keyboard wedge - it just outputs the characters read into the text box that has control at that point. If you make the textbox read-only or handle the keypress and throw the key away, you might not get any data into your text box at all.

Like the other person said, most barcode scanners are keyboard wedges. This means that they are, in fact, a keyboard. There is no way to tell the difference between the user hitting keys on the keyboard and the key data comming from the scanner. To Windows, and your app, they are exactly the same. So, to answer your question, no there isn't a way to do what you want using the scanner you have.
There are, on the other hand, barcode scanners out there that work on Ethernet that may do what you want, but they cost considerably more money to buy.

Hi,
for most barcode readers, you can set a prefix and postfix string that they emit around
the text scanned; read the reader's doc.
have your TextBox reject everything that does not have the prefix+postfix,
and remove those once you consume the data.
Or just remove the keyboard!

Yes, but ini files are no longer used by most people.

Is there anyone out there knows how to read a .ini file using vb.net2005? Is there any particular formal need in an ini file?

Use app.config instead and it is fully supported. Ini files are no longer in fashion.

Why aren't you asking Infragistics this question?? After all, they wrote the contorls you're using and you've paid them for the support, haven't you?

First, don't do textspeak crap like b4 or pls. Now, your question, do a google search.

i'm trying to see if there are any files in a given folder. so, i get the list of files, like this:
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Set colFileList = objWMIService.ExecQuery ("ASSOCIATORS OF {Win32_Directory.Name='" & _
oldInstallPath & "Plugins'} Where " & "ResultClass = CIM_DataFile")
then, to see if there are any files there, i do:
If colFileList.count <> 0 Then
...
End If
but, this fails with an error of "test.vbs(70, 13) SWbemObjectSet: Not found", on the If ... Then above.
so, what's the magic secret VB syntax to see if colFileList has anything in it ?
i've tried If IsObject(colFileList) Then... , but that succeeds even when colFileList.Count fails.
it even fails when when i try to iterate over the collection with For each curFile in colFileList .
i hate VBS

Can't you use the filesystemobject in VBS.

I have a form named frmFileInfo which has a public function called RecieveFile. Now on the main form the user can get info on multiple files by selecting a file from a list view and clicking "Get Info". This is the code I have to create multiple forms:
Dim newForm as Form=nothing
newForm = new frmFileInfo
newForm.Show()
newForm.RecieveFile(filename,true)
However, the last line of that code (the newForm.RecieveFile) doesn't work. The IDE states that RecieveFile is not a member of System.Windows.Forms.Form. I guess I could save the arguments in a global variable and have the load method of the frmFileInfo read their values and do what it needs to do. But I was wondering if there is a way to call a function when a form is created in this manner? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could do something like the following to access the 'RecieveFile' public method...
CType(newForm,frmFileInfo).RecieveFile(filename,True)
Of course, if you can you should simply declare newForm as frmFileInfo instead of as Form, then you could avoid the CType.
