How can I access an asx file from a different domain? I have a Silverlight MediaPlayer (it comes with SilverLight tools. I use Silverlight 2.2 beta). The Silverlight is hosted in an ASP page. Normally if you supply in mediasource the file name (for example movie.wmv) it plays the file.

I have an account at webhost4life.com.
I created a .NET2 application in a subdirectory of my main application (could that be the problem?)(I could see it in the .NET application list)
Anyway when I try to access my web application:
http://www.galador.net/blog/
it found an error in http://www.galador.net/web.config ...
how come?
it looks like it is trying to access the app in the parent dir.. (and the problem is this app is using some DLL which are issing in the blog dir by the way).
Any tip about what might be the confusion?
[EDIT]: Thanks to Webhost4life support it is fixed now.
They added the following arcane lines to the Web.config of the root web application:
<location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false"><br />
</location>

<add name="XmlLoginModule" type="WebUtils.XmlLoginModule, WebUtils"/>
Do you have WebUtils.dll used in your site ? Your web site is unable to locate this dll. Check whether it is uploaded on hosting server. This might help.

Thanks for looking at the problem!
This is not the problem, this is a strange symptom of something more ... darker ...!
Indeed I have a Web Application at the root level which uses this home brew DLL and it works fine!
But the blog is another Web Application, although one in a subfolder, and doesn't use this DLL, so why does it throw error while reading the Web.config of the Web application in the parent directory?!?! (Another Web application and not itself!!!)
PS: And yes I have quadruple checked on the control panel (at webhost4life.com), I do have a web application defined for this folder!

i have a set of admin pages in my site. These pages are created using a master page.
These pages use update panel and script manager for updating the values to database. All these pages are working fine except one.
The structure of the pages are same.
In one of these pages, when i submit the form, the validators are not showing the error messages. But actual validations are working there, when an error is there, it is actually focusing to the error control and form is getting submitted only after the the page is validated.
When i checked the source of the page after a wrong validation is given, it is showing the validators with style="display:none".
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance

Please, bear in mind I do web developement only about 2 weeks a year, this is the first week for this year! ...
anyway this week I though of updating my website and thought: "How about I install BlogEngine on my web site and starts a blog?"
So I downloaded blog engine[^], played with it locally, and decided to publish with the built-in publish functionality of VS.NET 2008...
Ho my... it's easily 15 minutes that I started the publishing and VS is just frozen... I looked with some FTP tool, apparently some file are sloooowly trickling down into my web directory, but this is just so sluuuuugish.
Is VS.NET the a bad publishing tools?
Is it slow for a reason?
Any tip to speed up the publising?

Hi,
I have a details page that contains a DetailsView control to display a record selected from a master page. Below the DetailsView I have a ListView control that grabs related content to the record displayed by the detaislView. Everything shows up properly, however, when I go to insert a record or page thru the records of the ListView, I loose the DetailsView all together, it disappears from the page. How can I have the DetailsView stay on the page as I interact with the ListView? Please advise.
thanks-Frank

Hi I want to upload an image but I should not use <asp:fileupload control="" since="" it="" shows="" a="" text="" box="" and="" button.="" but="" i="" want="" to="" upload="" file="" on="" button="" click="" or="" image="" click.="" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
I was using
<asp:fileupload id="UserImageUpload" runat="server" width="250" cssclass="uploadImage">
to upload an image and the code behind uses this control to send the uploadButtonEventArgs to one of other methods.
But now I need a single image button to upload an image on the click of image button
doXtop.Framework.UI.Controls.UploadButtonEventArgs uploadButtonControl = new doXtop.Framework.UI.Controls.UploadButtonEventArgs(this.UserImageUpload);
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(uploadButtonControl.FileUploadControl.PostedFile.FileName))
this.UploadUserImage(uploadButtonControl);
Any Ideas please!!!

Check whether LogError method is private. If you do not specify any access modifier, it is private by default.

I am using cookiless form authentication. the session ID's are generated and inserted in the query string by the system. When two users access the same page very first time, they get the proper page with their correct session Ids. But during the post back User1 gets User2 page .
How to prevent this problem ? Has any body experienced this behaviour.

I remember having a similar problem when using ajax and the fileupload control. I solved this by saving the fileupload path using viewstate to preserve the filename and path. That may help you...?
