No macro that I know of but Google up "doxygen" and you will soon be able to do what you require.

Did you read posting guidelines?
For instance:
-You should choose a meaningful title for your post.
-You should first try Googling for the answer [^].

Check out this wikipedia link: Comparison of instant messaging clients[^]. There are a number of open source applications in the list. You may want to pick up one, study how it is done and then start doing yours. But trust me, this would actually be more difficult than you think it could be. Good luck with the development.
PS: As CPallini pointed out, please give your post a meaningful title, something else other than "Help" or "Urgent pls".

Correct. Anyway: "plz plz more drugz urgent plz plz" is allowed.

Hi,
I want to communicate multiple serial ports using my application.
I can able to do for a single port.
can anybody have the info for mutiple ports please share it.
Regards,
Sunil Kumar

What's the problem ? If you can do it for one port, just "reuse" the same code. E.g. the best is to put all the code in one specific class (you can find some of them on codeproject). Then you just reuse the class twice: one for port 1 and one for port 2.

Thaks for the reply.
If i want to communciate with 10 ports, then i need to create 10 threads??
I want to communcate parallely.
All of them have only one receive function?

Depends on how you are reading the data but it makes sense yes. Alternatively you could also use overlapped IO but it is a bit more complicated to do. In overlapped IO, you have an event for each port that gets notified when data comes in. Then you could wait for 10 events at the same time in one thread.
But both solutions are fine and it depends also what you need to achieve...

depends on your protocol... RS485 allows multiple drop points, you have only one port to read each drop point is addressed.
RS232 you would need a way to read each port seperately so 10 threads might be the answer.

There is quite a lot of resource on that subject, just search a bit (on CP or google). Here[^] is an example of a helper class for instance.
And here[^] is a tutorial on the MSDN website.

error C2248: 'query' : cannot access protected member declared in class ' DerivedDialog'
Pls advice
.H
class DerivedDialog : public BaseDialog
{
// Construction
public:
//controlling function header
static UINT OnSearchButton(LPVOID param); // Thread function
typedef struct THREADSTRUCT //structure for passing to the controlling function
{
CDemoDlg* _this;
} THREADSTRUCT;;
....
}
.CPP
call:
THREADSTRUCT *_param = new THREADSTRUCT;
thSerOper=AfxBeginThread(OnSearchButton,_param);
UINT AssetSearchDialog::OnSearchButton (LPVOID param)
{
THREADSTRUCT* ts = (THREADSTRUCT*)param;
ts->_this->query().updateRowCount(maxRowCount());
....
}
|
|
|
|
|
First question: why do you package the this pointer in a THREADSTRUCT structure if you only need to pass the pointer ? Just pass the this pointer, this will make things a bit more readable.
I guess query is a protected member function of DerivedDialog ? Your names are not consistent: you replaced some of them so we can't understand everything.
Anyway the error message should be clear enough: you are trying to access a protected method from one class from another class, which is not allowed. Make the function public if you need to access it from another class.
And please read the poisting guidelines before posting: format the code properly so that it is more readable. It's been a while that you are on this forum...

Thanks for you responce. I am sorry for the inconvience cassued. Actuall there was a very timming consumming corba call on a button event which frezes the application. I just want to displaly a popup never ending Progress Dlg during this time. Pls advice
Dlg::ButtonEvent()
{
//Thread Displaying never ending Progress Dlg
//Very timming consuing CORBA CALL
//End the Thread displaying never ending Progress Dlg

As ther are lot many such call, i dont want to put the timming consumming calls in a thread, and Insted looking for some generic implementation for the progress bar
