TreeView Win.Form Control Help!!! Search a matching string value all over Treeview nodes and sub nodes then open the node and highlight it? Is that possible and how?
Just like searching a string value in a datagridview cell then point the focus on that cell? is there a logic then same in datagridview or listview into Treeview???
'For example: lets say all nodes in a treeview is full collapse.. only the parent node is shown.. and Node1 is one of the nodes with a name = Node1 and a equivalent string value = "Node1"
'**************figure1
+Level-0 Node1
+Level-0 Node2
Level-0 Node3
'***********************
'and then when i attempt to search in all nodes of the treeview whether it is full collapse or out of the display area like "Node5" in figure2 then all nodes corresponding on the "Node5" parents node will open and select or highlited the "Node5" just like in figure2???
'*****************figure2
+Level-0 Node1
+Level-1 Node4
Level-2 Node5
+Level-0 Node2
+Level-1 Node6
Level-0 Node3
'****************************
is that possible in treeview?? how?? 'cause im having difficulty to figure it out myself..
Please anybody have a good idea?? please??

I am in need of a solution in VB6 to send Login and Password information to websites. I am using an instance of InternetExplorer object. I do not want to use send keys because it is very unreliable with the internet. I cannot use Web browser object for some of these sites because the files I want to down load do not play nice with Web browser.
I can find text on a web page using:
Set TXT = IE.Document.body.createTextRange()
boolFound = TXT.FindText(strMark)
TXT.moveStart "character", -1
TXT.FindText strMark
TXT.Select
TXT.ScrollIntoView
It escapes me how to insert text into text box controls on the webpage. I even know what the field names are on the web page:
User ID:
Password:
I am told that the 'Document' property is very powerful, but there is not much documentation on it. Is there a 'Insert' method or the like that will allow me to programatically populate these Login fields.
Your help is very much appreciated!

Who owns the web pages you are attempting to send information to? If it's not you, how can you be sure what the actual field names for the User ID and Password are? Why are you using VB6?

VB6 has been long dead. Suggest you use VB.NET if you are going to do any VB programming. Why support something that is no longer supported?

Hi all,
i like to create a user control (or custom control). By Clicking on the control i like to display a dropdownfield similar to a combobox or the calender in the date-time picker.
The hosting application should not become inactive (window title should keep the blue color), but moving the hosting application, or clicking in any menu, or activating any other control (moving the focus to any other control), the drop down field should close.
On the drop down field i like to receive mouse and keyboard events.
Pls. can anybody provide the general way to do this using vb2005 ?
regards,
bauer

Hi John,
thank you for your reply.
I have to check, if this coding helps.
What i have to do is: Place some logic on the drop down area similar for example to the date-time picker. If the user clicks on the drop down area (or clicks controls on the drop down area) something should happen .....
I'm not sure, whether it's good practice to inherit from ComboBox.
My be, a better way exists.
But if i create a borderless window as drop down area, the problem is, that the hosting main form becomes inactiv, the title bar isn't blue colored any more.
Any other comments ?
regards,
bauer

Hi,
When I tried to assign AxImageList to AxListView, I am getting "Invalid Object" error. Could any one of you please let me know how to do this.
My code:
Private WithEvents mLV As AxMSComctlLib.AxListView
Public WithEvents imlLVSortIcons As AxMSComctlLib.AxImageList
mLV.ColumnHeaderIcons = frmMain.DefInstance.imlLVSortIcons
Actually this code is converted from VB6 to VB.NET.
Thanks in Advance,
AR Reddy

Private WithEvents mLV As ??? AxMSComctlLib.AxListView
mLV.ColumnHeaderIcons = frmMain.DefInstance.imlLVSortIcons
In the first line, you never create a new instance of mLV that's why you can't assign anything to one of it's properties.
Replace ??? with New

Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
I have tried with New, but I am getting the same error "Invalid Object".

Ok let's look at the code you gave
Private WithEvents mLV As AxMSComctlLib.AxListView
Public WithEvents imlLVSortIcons As AxMSComctlLib.AxImageList
mLV.ColumnHeaderIcons = frmMain.DefInstance.imlLVSortIcons
1) the new is required for mLV so put that back in.
2) You aren't using imlLVsortIcons is that your intention?
3) which form are you in because you mention a form frmmain?
4) is definstance of frmmain created?

Hi nlarson, Many thanks for the replies,
Here is my actual code,
Private WithEvents mLV As AxMSComctlLib.AxListView
Public Sub Constructor(ByRef LV As AxMSComctlLib.AxListView, Optional ByRef LVWrapper As cListViewWrapper = Nothing)
mLV = LV
......
mLV.ColumnHeaderIcons = frmMain.DefInstance.imlLVSortIcons
......
......
End Sub
1) i can put back the New for mLV
2) Yes, im not using imlVVSortIcons in this form, i want to use mLV
3) frmMain is the main form which contains the imlLVSortIcons image list. And the above code is in different form.
4) Yes, I have created the definstance in frmMain.
Thanks,
AR Reddy

is typeof(columnheadericons) = imllvsorticons?
if your getting somekind of object not set then you'll need to check each one
If lv is nothing then msgbox("it's lv")
If frmmain is nothing then msgbox("it's frmmain")
If frmmain.definstance is nothing then msgbox("it's frmmain.definstance")
otherwise ????????????

I am using Visual Basic Express 2005
I have a main form wich captures several images and saves them to a folder.
Then a secondary form is opened and the user can select in a listbox the image for viewing in a picturebox of the secondary form.
The problem is when secondary form is closed, the image file viewed in the picturebox remains locked (remember secondary form is closed and theorically picturebox is disposed) and only is unlocked when main form is closed.
I have tried explicitly disposing picturebox in when secondary form closed event, with no success.
Thank you

Besides disposing the picturebox, dispose the image as well
oPic.Image.Dispose

i have 35600 records in the database , How should i display the records , so that the screen may not turn white(due to complete CPU usage).
|
|
|
|
|
1) as far as the display listbox1.suspendlayout / fill / listbox1.resumelayout may help you.
2) consider your design. what is the user going to do with 35600 records? is a "search" feature a better idea the overloading the user with a huge amount of records that most likely they won't need 90% of them at one time?

Lower the number of records you display. Seriously, no one is going to want to scroll through 35,600 records. As in the other reply you got, implement some kind of search functionality.

Or implement some paging functionality. On the first population run
SELECT TOP 50 *
FROM tTable
ORDER BY UniqueKey ASC
on each "NextPage" command run
SELECT TOP 50 *
FROM tTable
WHERE UniqueKey > (last result set's MAX(UniqueKey))
ORDER BY UniqueKey ASC
Try not to do this as it is painful for the DB
SELECT TOP 50 *
FROM tTable
WHERE UniqueKey NOT IN (SELECT TOP [PageCount*50] *
FROM tTable
ORDER BY UniqueKey ASC
)
ORDER BY UniqueKey ASC

Yep. Maybe the OP will take your suggestions, which are very good

Is the project a Windows service or just a regular Windows Forms program? Are you trying to kill the process in code or by using the Task Manager?
