AJAX in Action if you really want to learn AJAX. ASP.NET AJAX in Action if you want a Microsoft library to let you do AJAX without knowing what it means or does.
Two good books, both worth having.

public void Fill_Fun(string par1,string par2)

}
when i debug the TextBox assignd with the value but not show in the aspx page at runtime

Never used Telerik Reporting
Check if you are giving any Default values in aspx ?
Check if txtName is having different property to show text like
TextBoxId.Text ?
Where are you calling this function Fill_Fun ?
Check the Source of your html is Telerik Reporting is Rendered or not
i think one of these may have your solution
Thanks and Regards

OK, so I have a dll, which is my data layer and it has a connection string property in a .settings file. In my web.config, I see this:
<applicationSettings>
<DataLayer.Properties.Settings>
<setting name="ConnectionString" serializeAs="String">
<value>
Data Source=xxxx;Initial Catalog=xxx;User ID=xxx;Password=xxx
</value>
</setting>
</DataLayer.Properties.Settings>
</applicationSettings>
Now here's the rub. If I change the setting in my web.config file, the code doesn't use that value, it uses the value inside the dll. How, from my dll, do I gain access to the value that's in the web.config ?

I had to add the values in the appconfig section and read from there, it seems that ASP.NET copies the values out of the dlls into the web.config, but the dll doesn't look back there to update the values.

I want to provide a feature that allows the user to dynamically change a theme using ajax, similar to what's going on at MyYahoo.com (Go to myyahoo.com, click "Change Apperance" in the middle of the page, then choose a different color from the menu. You'll notice the background changes without a refresh.).
I know how to change themes WITH a page refresh, however I don't know how to do it without one using ajax. How could I do this?
Thanks.

I an geetting following error while i have beedn designing asp web sire with ajz tool kit.
The type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' is ambiguous: it could come from assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll' or from assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll'. Please specify the assembly explicitly in the type name.
I have installed ajaxtoolkit from internet.
I have also tried following steps to handle this error
1.Delete all the bin file from project.
2.rebuild the website(here i got the error that ajaz tool tag are not identified so i again add dll for ajaz toolkit)
In my system i have three system.web.extension file
1.System.Web.Extensions 1.0.61231.0
2.System.Web.Extensions 3.6.0.0
3. System.Web.Extensions 3.5.0.0
Plz help me to resolve this problem as soon as possible:

I have a problem deploying a web part to a production server that does not manifest itself on my test server.
The web part in question uses Microsoft Office Interop to perform routine procedures on Word documents like calculating table of contents, imposing project standard templates, etc.
When I execute this web part on my test server it does the desired operations to the selected document(s). When I deployed the web part to a production server the initial selection controls come up and I am able to navigate to any repository or subfolder on the server. When I select document(s) for processing and click on a process button I get a 403 browser error.
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
Internet Explorer
When I look in the SharePoint server log I see the following error.
08/11/2008 11:50:14.88 mssdmn.exe (0x14E8) 0x1560 359 0 Monitorable CHttpAccessorHelper::InitRequestInternal - unexpected status (401) on request for 'http://server_name/project/test_document.doc'. - File :\office\source\search\search\gather\protocols\http\httpacchelper.cxx Line:467
The D drive (smiley face in the above error message) is a DVD drive on the server but the log entry seems to indicate that an office program is executing there.
If anyone is familiar with this type of behavior could you please tell me how to resolve this problem?

Hi,
I'm new to asp.net and have a question regarding the viewstate:
I have an editable datagrid with dropdown list on several columns.
My co-worker warns me to be careful about the size of the viewstate, which is a good advice. However, I'm not quite convinced by the way he did the match.
Assume that there are 5 coumns in the datagrid and each column is edited with a dropdown list, and assume there are 100 rows
5 dropdowns
10 items in each dropdown
30 chars for each dropdown item
100 rows in the grid
Also assume that all controls are ViewState enabled.
My co-worker said that the ViewState will include everyhing in the regular Grid, plus
5 x 10 x 30 x 100 (i.e., the dropdown's view state is repeated for every row, that's the same as 100 dropdowns in each column). Obviously, the ViewState will grow dramatically it that's the case.
But my initial thought was, if only one row is ediable at a time, the postback should inlcude only 5x10x30, puls the regular grid data.
Can anyone clarify this?
Thanks in advance.

Yes ViewState is going to increase in the Page
Andyz50 wrote: 5 x 10 x 30 x 100
Is some what confusing don't know exact algorith to have viewState
I think it will create optimized one.But not sure
Andyz50 wrote: But my initial thought was, if only one row is ediable at a time, the postback should inlcude only 5x10x30, puls the regular grid data
Ya this can be one is one of the solutions
other solution can be instead of showing 100 rows at a time,use Paging and show 10 to 15 or similar on each page.
Thanks and Regards

Hi All,
I need to write a module to log all queries ran on a page. Once the page is loaded, limited users can pull this information with a click on client side to see.
- This log should not be stored anywhere but in memory, which means the scope of this information is only the native page.
Does anybody have any idea how this can be achieved?
Any idea will be appreciated.

What kinda query? Do you mean operation like search etc...
peacefulmember wrote: Once the page is loaded, limited users can pull this information with a click on client side to see.
Its upto you weather you want a client click or server click
As far as limited users are concerned, check for the permissions of the user.
But as the information is at server, you need to make a server call.

By queries I meant all the queries excuted to render one page. In my aplication one page is generated with multiple queries. Thus, I want user to click on a button (which I have on every page) and then see all the queries executed to build that page.
I am not clear how a server call can help? These queries are neither stored on the database side nor I want to save it in a file or in database. I would like to achieve this by keeping it in memory or stream etc.
I was thinking on either saving the sqls in javascript or was also thinking on lines of TraceListener. I am just not sure how? Anybody has better approach, please suggest with a solution.
Thanks

I'm trying to add spam and abuse reporting functionality to my app, I basically have a link with the text 'Report this post' that should be changed to 'Thank you' when clicked by the user, it should call a page in my app (silently) and send it the post id. I find ASP.NET Ajax too much for this very simple scenario, I have no server controls, it's just a link (I'm not an expert in Ajax but I read a little about UpdatePanel and didn't like it very much esp. the complete postback part, Page_Load .. etc). Any suggestions how this can be done without ASP.NET Ajax? Thanks

ASP.NET AJAX just wraps the java script code into built-in controls. You can always write simple JS code that does AJAX call. Check this[^]

I have a weird session problem that seems to only happen in firefox and safari but not in IE.
Basically when the user logs in, the sessions are created. The weird part is, if they select the products page the session is lost in firefox but not in works in IE. It seems to be just this page that losses the sessions variables in firefox. If i stay within the logged in account section, and view my profile, orders, etc the session stays in tact.
Any suggestion or ideas that would cause this issue? I am using master templates, and the session state is InProc.
