I have a code which is less complex
you will have to import import system.net.dns
Sample code is as follows:
Imports System.Net.Dns
Dim shostname As String
shostname = system.Net.DNS.GetHostName()
console.writeline("Your Machine Name = " & shostname)
hope that helps

I have a data entry entry screen. Here users are entering Checks details in batches. Each batch is having about 200 checks. User wants to save each row after finishing the row.
I did by using XMLDom. Which is calling another page? It is perfectly submitting the values to the database?
But it is slow and putting lot of load on the front end and increasing heavy network traffic in a 50 people environment.
Is there any better way to Insert, Update, delete the rows.
I am using asp, Oracle with IE 6.0

By saying Front end , do you mean that browser? If so, make sure that the asp page doing database update is returning only S(uccess)/F(ailure) message and then updating the DOM? If that is the case, it shouldn't put any load on front end because the page does not get refreshed.
Web-server load (so with N/W load unless it demands upgrade) is ok for 50 users because 50 users can not be 50 concurrent connections, in web environment.

Greetings all!
I am new to programming .NET and, to be perfectly honest, I'm not really an experienced programmer. I'm an engineer that is going to have to be doing some development. So, I'm looking for the best resources available for learning/developing in .NET. Where do you go for on-line information, add-ons... those things that make development time easier? I've been hearing about "communities". Do you really use those and are they valuable, or do you spend more time in discussion forums like this? What are the best forums?
Any information would be valuable. I appreciate your time!
Jerry

You have opened the recordset as a "forward only" cursor.. change it and i think it will work just fine.
Hmm...
|
|
|
|
|
You are using a Command obj that is returning an recordset.. ??
Set myRS = myCmd.Execute()
If true, then how is this Query definede..?? Which db are you using.. evt try using clientside cursors
Hmm...

If you can not pay: Either use TAPI or MS Communication control (with VB - check MSDN)
If you can pay, there are several APIs such as HAPI (check hyperterminal in your system).

Hi All,
I've been searching for days to try and obtain the list of counters available on a 2k or NT box, without using the GUI selection.
I have written some monitoring DLL's which return the counters fine, providing I supply them. I need to enumerate the counter list and let the code select apropriate counters.
Any Idea's I have been on MSDN and if I was a C++ programmer I'd have it done by now..
Any help would be great

Commonly, we use free SDK / COM components provided by the manufacturers (For example, Logitech Quick Cam provides one. See FAQs at
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?countryid=19&languageid=1&page=partners/info&CRID=1463&parentCRID=948&categoryID=265
Another interesting link is http://www.microsoft.com/windows/NetMeeting/Authors/SDK/default.ASP
which may not be directly relavent to your posting

Hi everybody,
I am called Seth
I have a "Spring-Mass System" created with Visual Basic 6, but it can not work with the code provided. I am just begining to use Visual Basic 6. To create a form is one of the things I can manage but not to write the code exactly. It just has a timer, 3 comand boxes, 3 text boxes and a spring which has to be drawn that will be attached to a mass "M".
Some of the code is given but not all.
Can anybody replay to this message who would help me to write this code, and I would then send you, as a attachement, the Visual Basic 6 form and some of the code.
Can you also write down your e-mail for me to send you the form.
My e-mail is sethforever@hotmail.com
I would be thankfull if anybody could do this to help me.

Given below is a code which will extract information about your machine from the DNS database and display it on your vb form:
Dim oAddr As System.Net.IPAddress
Dim Machine, ipaddress As String
With System.Net.Dns.GetHostByName(System.Net.Dns.GetHostName())
oAddr = New System.Net.IPAddress(.AddressList(0).Address)
Machine = System.Net.Dns.GetHostName()
ipaddress = oAddr.ToString()
ipaddr.Text = ipaddress
macname.Text = Machine
The above code extracts the machines ip address and machine name and displays it in your form.Now i am looking for a code which can extract the username and group name of the person logged in on that machine.Could anybody help

I think this is what you are looking for.
Hmm...

can anyone please give me sample code or example for deleting part of the string..
Dim str As String
str = "c:\temp\folder1"
how can i delete "\folder1" from str so str will be only "c:\temp"
I know how to do in c++ but do not know how to do in VB though.
Is String has any functions like CString?
in C++ i can use CString::Find('\') and CString::Right() methods.. what about in VB. any functions that will do the same as above functions???
thank you
|
|
|
|
|
I got it..
that's what i did
Dim fileName As String
Dim path As String
Dim index As Integer
path = "c:\temp\testing\folder"
path = frmPrinterProperties.IDpath.Text
' deleting the last folder name..
index = InStrRev(path, "\", -1, 1) ' find "\" reversly in the path string
path = Mid(path, 1, index) ' get what ever right before "\"
fileName = path & "new folder" ' now "c:\temp\testing\new folder"

You want to rotate the text 90 degs.
This is not simple
Use the Create font api (allapi.com)
CreateMyFont = CreateFont(Height,Width, 900, 900, Weight, FW_NORMAL, Italic, UnderLine, Strikeout, DEFAULT_CHARSET, OUT_DEFAULT_PRECIS, CLIP_DEFAULT_PRECIS, PROOF_QUALITY, DEFAULT_PITCH, "Times New Roman")
