Oh man, this is so much new technology to get into.. Is this kind of list with custom list items be done without WPF?
Thanks!

You can do it with existing technologies, but it is so much more complicated. There is a lot that you have to do to bend WinForms into shape.

I have created a web application using visual studio 2005 (ASP.Net using C# and SQL Server 2005).Earlier, to test i created few test pages compiled them and uploaded all the related files and folders to the default virtual directory of the web server,It was working.Now, after completing the application once again I compiled the application(which is having new pages and functionality obviously) and then uploaded the complete files and folders (Before uploading I deleted all the files and folders previously uploaded to the web server from its virtual directory)When I opened my site from browser to see it working I got the old page! Even that page is not present in the directory of the web server, its still showing along with the other old pages.I want to upload my new web pages.Somebody Please help.Where am I wrong???My new pages are successfully uploaded but still old pages are coming despite of the fact that they no more exists.What is it???

Please First delete the old directory from the Webserver.Reset server if possible.Again upload the new one.and second remove all temp files and browser cache from the client machine.
I think it will solve your problem.

You have this site and loads of great articles to learn from. That should be a good start for you.

First, you have this excellent site. Second, you have the forums to help you learn. Third, find some good reference books regarding the .NET technology. Two publishers I would look for: Apress and Sams Teach Yourself (do not get Sams C++ books).

If you are just getting into .NET: I would suggest that you mingle briefly in VB and then head straight into C# very quickly. I consider C# to have the simplicity of VB with the syntax of C++.

I am coding an extension to the functionality of the ASP.Net default login provider. Using an extended url generated from a database of user e-mails the UserName field of the create user wizard is auto populated and verified against entries in a separate database.
The idea was to allow only those users who receive an email with their details to be able to register. It works fine, however the account cannot be created when the UserName textbox is readonly. If the box is set to readonly=false it works fine, but users can create any username they like and any number of accounts.
Does anyone know why if the UserName textbox of the create user wizard is readonly it will fail in creating the account?
What event is triggered when the create user button is clicked. As its part of a pre made control it is difficult to insert or change the code that runs, I presume it is part of the class library.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I have a system with .NET 3.5/VS.NET 2008 installed, but still using only VS.NET 2005 for my projects.
Just realized my applications will not run on systems without the .NET 2.x SP1.
Any way to target the .NET 2.x without the SP1 on this machine?
The project consists of multiple libraries, mostly written in C#, but some written in mixed mode C++/CLI.
Best regards,
Paul.
Jesus Christ is LOVE! Please tell somebody.

Don't know any easy way to do this. The only thing that comes in mind is to list classes/methods etc that you cannot use (things introduced in SP1) and search them throughout the project.
One way to do this is to create your own rules in FxCop that will alert if you have illegal calls. This really is not an easy way but I think it could be doable.

Actually, I just checked, and it's not urgent to us, at all.

If it is urgent to get the sourcecode of the DLL, then contact the vendor using telephone instead of slow communication channels like email and discussion boards.

Geeze, how rude can you be? First you do a real lame subject line and second, you have an urgent problem. Very rude and frowned upon. Don't do it again.

Okay, I am posting this here because it involves both C# and C++/CLI.
First off, I am implementing a plugin system in .Net. It works fine and I am able to load classes through interfaces in an assembly then reload that specific assembly (through an appdomain). Yet, when the DLL that I am loading is a C++/CLI dll with the following code (a minor hack to allow a DLLMain in .Net)...
private class DllMain
{
public:
DllMain();
~DllMain();
};
DllMain g_DllMain;
DllMain::DllMain()
{
}
Anyway, the problem is the DllMain::DllMain() executes properly yet when it goes to registers each class it fails silently (see the code below).
public static ref class Forge<T>
{
public:
static void Register(ISmith<T> smith)
{
m_Smith = smith;
}
private:
static ISmith<T> m_Smith;
}
When I call on my C++/CLI library from the default AppDomain (without the plugin system [see the next code example]) the library works as expected.
AppDomainSetup setup = new AppDomainSetup();
setup.ShadowCopyFiles = "true";
setup.SandboxInterop = true;
setup.PrivateBinPath = "Bin/";
string domainName = input.Substring(input.LastIndexOf('\\') + 1);
domainName = domainName.Substring(0, input.LastIndexOf('.'));
domainName += " Domain";
AppDomain domain = AppDomain.CreateDomain(domainName, null, setup);
string typename = AssemblyName.GetAssemblyName(input).FullName;
typename = typename.Substring(0, typename.IndexOf(','));
typename += ".Plugin";
IPlugin plugin = (IPlugin)(domain.CreateInstanceFromAndUnwrap(input, typename));
plugin.Initialize(domain);
return plugin;
Any suggestions would be appreciated. As it is I'm banging my head against a wall, and this project is cement.

I'm not sure what I'm missing....
How does the last block of code relate to the middle block of code?

Sorry if I didn't make it clear.
It is the code I use to create a secondary AppDomain.

Since nobody else is jumping in on this...
How does that code relate to your stated problem?

Hello. I'm developing a Windows Mobile application using .NETCF2 and C#. I need to get the Owner Name of the phone. How can I do this via code?
Thanks in advance.

Well, leave the programming aside.
How did you even think that a mobile(or any machine) contains the owner name.

I believe that's called an "assumption". That's how software development works right?
