ok...i've found the way to resolve my problem: to those who can be interested in it i've found the file that register all the ASP.NET extensions in the IIS. Sometimes the .NET installer doesn't do his job well and it not register the ASP.NET extensions in the IIS. When it occurs, we have to use the following file: In .NET Framework directory (by default c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<version>\ there is the file that is called : aspnet_regiis.exe
And...that's all. All the extensions (.aspx, .asmx, .asax, .ascx, etc...) have been registered!!!

Hey Guys,
I am using ASP to load some data from a xml file via xsl. Now i need to sort this data, i know i could use the xsl:sort element but i need a dynamic one, which the user can change. So the user will have the possibilty to sort the data in different ways.
Is there any such function ?
Any suggestions ??

I wish to create a page which has similar functions to the datagrid but with one main difference. Each record keyfield is displayed from a database which when clicked loads that record in another page.
The main difference is that I since each record will be only 1 item I would like to show more than one record per result row.
[record1] [record2] [record3]
[record4] [record5] [record6]
[record7] [record8] [record9]
Is this possible with datagrid or any of the other data controls (repeater,datalist etc) ?
or
Could I inherit the datagrid and override a method to achieve this effect?
I would prefer to avoid coding it from scratch unless there really is nothing existing that can do the job.

Hello all,
I am using javascript for client side validations and form submission in certain web pages I am developing. I have added code to submit a form, on pressing the "Enter" key. The code works fine in IE and Netscape. But unfortunately the code is not working in Mac IE. Can anyone throw light on this issue ? What are the precautions to be taken when writing client side javascript for Mac IE ? Is there a way to detect IE Mac version and add special code as we do for Netscape ?

Yes you can look for MAC in the Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_USER_AGENT") string to detect if you are on Mac or not. Then you can look for the IE and Netscape identifiers for more profiling.

Try this code, works fine on my Mac. If it does not help then post your offending code and I will have a look. I am trapping the enter key on the TEXTAREA element using the keypress event. You can put it on almost any other element and use keydown or keyup instead.

Should not be anything major, not unless you are doing "low level" stuff. Though Mac IE does seem to be less forgiving than PC IE (which is a good thing.)

Well I am not sure about what you are trying to do actually. Why detect for a ENTER key-event when it is on a button which already accepts ENTER? What are you trying to do? Stop people using the mouse to subscribe?
Anyway, your code works fine on my Mac (no modifications except commenting out the function and element calls I don't have.) I am running IE5.0 on Mac OS 9.0.

It is an iMac (old style) which we use maybe once a week for Mac testing.
Though I must admit I have been lusting after the latest iMac and that new Mac OS X Jaguar. That is one awesome OS.

Hi,
This is probably a really stupid question. I've set up IIS under XP to point at another folder other than wwwroot (not that it should matter). Then using another account (with non-admin priveleges), I'm trying to use Interdev to create a 'solution' and edit my site locally, except Interdev is refusing to do it and giving some error message (which isn't all that helpful). What am I missing out on? The usual searches have drawn a blank so far...

Make sure the new folder that you are using is listed within IIS as a virtual directory.

The part of the problem was 'user error' 
It says at the top of interdev 'must have frontpage extensions installed'. Guess what?
Then I had to do the virtual directory thing
Who'd think MS stuff works straight out of the box eh?

I've made a simple ASP.Net web application and
When i run the project without making any changes to it
it gives the following error message:
ERROR:error while trying to run the project. unable to start debugging on the web server. The server does not support debugging of ASP.Net applications or ATL server. Run setup to install .Net server components. If setup has been run verify that a valid URL has been specified.
I have run the setup again to reinstall server components.
and now they are installed successfully but the problem is still there. no Web application is running.
Please help!!

Aish, you need to give the ASP.NET Debugger user the neccesary rights. I can't remember the details, but go to MSDN.microsoft.com and search on that topic, it is all there. By default the user is not all-powerful so as to tighten up security.
You do not need to reinstall the .NET Framework or ASP.NET or anything, just the users rights.

i programed an email online system, that get the emails from the pop3 server and write them into a database.
everything works fine- but sometimes, i got emails, that do not show the content (body text), but instead have an attachment like: .msg or win.dat ...
what did i wrong and how can i show the body text of this emails ?
have anybody also had this kind of problem???

I may be trying to pass a three dollar bill here...
I have a simple user control (i.e. small login form: UserName/Password Text boxes & submit button).
I would love to be able to pass the control a style or stylesheet that wouls specify the font charactics etc to use on the control (to make it a bit more re-useable across a few sites).
Any suggestions?

If you set the class to use for the controls in question, label, textbox, etc., they will assume that style if the stylesheet is inlcuded in the parent page.
Alternatively you can pass parameters to your control that would set the styles properly.

How can I force a bar to sit at the bottom of the page, I currently have a table, but it won't sit at the very bottom of the page unless the page contents requires the usage of the scroll bar at the bottom. Does this make sense? Here is what I have, however again it doesn't always work the way I want it to.  Any ideas?

Nick, in my experience Netscape (4.x at least) is very, very finicky about the height attribute. Maciej's post will work, but depending on what other elements you have in the document, NS may or may not decide to display that properly because NS 4.x's height calculations are dumb IMO. What I usually do to ensure a bar is always at the bottom is use nested tables.
Example...
