A "dirty" but working solution is to save all html documents with the aspx suffix and exchange all links with linkbuttons having server.transfer(url) in the codebehind

Hi,
I am connecting via a web service. The response object returns XML data in a string value. How do I get the element values of this string?
Ideally I would like to load it into a dataset but it is not a physical file that I can just read from.
Thanks

Hi everyone, I just built a website by using VB2005 and ASP.NET. I published it and tested the publish version by using VB as back suppourt. The web running well. But when I set to the local server. Login successful, but the button Add / Edit user are always failed, and I changed one user's password, the message shown to it's successful. But when Login again, I still need to use the old password. It seems like the whole database not updated by itself. But once I using VB to view in browser, it can works well. Does anybody can help me to solve this problems??
Thanks a lot

FireBug (or FireBug Lite). Google it.

Hi,
I have a huge product feed, it's about 28MB big. When I try to open it with a web browser then my whole pc hangs. Even with Notepad. Does anyone know of a decent program that I can use to open the large XML file without lettingm y whole PC hang?
And secondly, what is the best way (via C# code) to read this file and to get the values extracted?
Thanks
Brendan

Try a HexEditor, like HexEdit - they are very good at opening large files for reading/writing, although of course you get the hex output on the left side of the page. Might still be worth a try though.
For your second question you might want to try the ASP.NET forum, assuming you are writing your program for this.

You seem to be creating a HTML table, pretending it's a PDF file, and then hoping the browser can handle all the minor complications of converting it to a real PDF file?

You cannot convert HTML to PDF by simply saying that it's a PDF file. I'd suggest taking some time to investigate exactly what HTML and PDF are, why they are different, and how you would use a server-based solution to convert from one to the other. As someone else has suggested, Google will undoubtedly be your friend here.

Hi Guys,
I am about to start working on timezone application now, but I don't know yet if which is best of the two.
I need your comment and suggestion. What I really need is an application that will accept a datetime and then will be converted into the desired timezone.
What do you think is good for this particular task - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/vb/TimeZoneInfo.aspx or PublicDomain Olson TimeZone ?
Thanks

After Vista sucked down and injected SP1 onto my machine all of my previously working web apps are hemorrhaging with the following error:
Error Summary
HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.
Module IIS Web Core
Notification Unknown
Handler Not yet determined
Error Code 0x8007000d
Config Error
Config File
Requested URL http://localhost:80/
Physical Path
Logon Method Not yet determined
Logon User Not yet determined
Something has changed in SP1 that doesn't agree with my configuration but I have no clue what it is.
I did everything on the Microsoft KB with no luck http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942055/[^]
EDIT: You can use %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list config to check if your config file is corrupt (no errors here)
EDIT: This[^] forum post mentions a resolution. One of the applications in applicationHost.config had applicationPool="" which is invalid. Specificying an applicationPool fixed the issue. Phew.

Hi all,
I am writing a simple webpage that uses an iframe to contain information from multiple content-pages. The iframe is located inside a div with the following specs (in css):
#Plaza2
{
position: absolute;
left: 30px;
right: 25px;
top: 130px;
bottom: 25px;
overflow: auto;
text-align: left;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 10pt;
color: #000000;
}
The iframe itself is said to be 100% of the width and height of its parent:
#iframe
{
position:relative;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
The actual html is:
<div id="Plaza2">
<iframe src="txt/0101.htm" name="content" id="iframe" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto">
Sorry, your browser does not support iframes.
</iframe>
</div>
All this works as expected in Firefox, however in IE7 the height of the iframe gets stuck at some 150 pixels or something. The funny thing is that the width does extend to 100% of the div. Only the height does not.
I have also set the height of the body (both the main page as well as the page included in the iframe) to 100%. Does not make any difference.I could of course set the iframe to a fixed height, but this way everything neatly sizes with the browser window.
Does anyone have any suggestions please???
Regards,
William.

You're already making the container DIV absolute positioned, use the same for the IFRAME. Maybe even ditch the DIV completely, since it does not appear to have a purpose.

Hi All,
I'm using Plumtree 5.0 to host my pages and im creating a PDF with some sentences and trying to show it to the user on click of a button. But i'm getting an Javascript error "Object doesn't support this property or method". The code is as follows.
MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream();
//...
ms object will be populated with the pdf data created dynamically.
.....//
Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; //when i try "text/html" im getting the encoded pdf file in the page like %pdf- ....
Response.Buffer = true;
Response.Clear();
Response.OutputStream.Write(ms.GetBuffer(), 0, ms.GetBuffer().Length);
Response.OutputStream.Flush();
Response.End();
Im using vs2003 C#
Please help me in this issue. This is an urgent requirement.

It always is.
The error is basically telling you everything - you are accessing a function or variable of an object that does not exist. Locate the line in the code and you've nearly solved the problem. If you can't locate the line then try using FireFox and FireBug and see what they say.

Actually i'm not calling any javascript functions. I tried to keep the first line of the code response.contentype="application/pdf" only, then also its throwing error. So basically i think Plumtree is not supporting this line and the inbulit javascripts is blocking.Can any one explain the exact reason for this.
