Welcome to code project
If you want to have a good experience here I suggest you take a look around the site and see how things are done. This handy Forum Guidelines article[^] can also be helpful.
In general most people that will try to help you also believe you should be attempting to do the work yourself. This can include the notion that you have attempted to find some information about your subject using Google. In this particular case it was pretty simple, you use the following Google Search
Google Search[^]
and about the seventh link from the top in the search results we find a CodeProject Article on your subject[^]
Good luck

I want to send Emails to 3000+ persons from one MSG source file.
The file may contain Outlook's specific features such as vote, etc.
Now I have 2 approaches in mind :
1) Use Outlook to send Email. (I don't sure about performance.)
2) Use SMTP. (I think conversion needed [but I don't know how] and don't sure that voting still OK.)
Which approach should I use ? Any references or examples could help a lot.

I recommend the approach where you learn about the technologies you might be wanting to utilize. Google can be helpful for finding information. Wikipedia generally offers good introductory information on specific things like SMTP etc.
Good luck

Hi Guys,
I've got an app that i'm publishing with ClickOnce and i'm testing the install on a clean machine. I'm getting an error that the following assembly is missing from the GAC:
Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Applications.Adapter, version 8.0.0.0
I have the following prerequisites in my app:
* Windows Installer 3.1
* .Net Framework 3.5
* Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies
* Visual Studio Tools for the Office System 3.0 Runtime Service Pack 1
I've checked on google and it looks like the missing assembly is part of the VS installation, which is both worrying and confusing.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Tristan

Do you have a reference to that library in your project?
If yes, try removing it and see if you get any errors in compiling after that (was the reference unnecessary or have you used it somewhere in the code).

Hi,
Cheers for the response. I do use this, and after some further investigation it is a library that comes with the Visual Studio Tools for Applications, which had a broken install.
Tried installing it again and it's still broken...

Ok I see.
The only thing I can suggest is that before installing have you tried to completely remove it by uninstalling and then using Control Panel removing all components left from GAC (if any). Sometimes I've had trouble with uninstalling or repairing, but if libraries are removed manually then re-install usually has worked for me.

Thanks mike,
Solved it on my own however.
It required the Visual Studio Tools for Applications to be installed from the Office 2007 disc.

Hi,
I need to implement an audit trail for Add/Edit/Delete on my objects,I'm using an ORM (XPO) for defining my objects etc.I implemented an audit trail object that is triggered on
1. OnSaving
2. OnDeleting
of the base object, and I store the changes in Audit-AuditTrail (Mast-Det) table, for field changes. etc....using some method services called.
How do you implement audit trail in you OOP code? Please share your insights? Any patterns etc? Best practices etc? Another thing is that how to disable audit when running unit test, since I don't need to audit them but since base object has the code.
Changes to object (edit/add/del) and what field changes need to be audited
Thanks in advance for you replies.

We audit using triggers, i.e. when items are changed in the database. Doing it at your application code level introduces a level of coupling, and a performance hit, that you don't need.
We don't disable auditing during unit testing. That's a bad idea - because you're not testing the behaviour of your system, you're testing the behaviour of an artificially crippled version of your system. If part of your application updates two tables, you need to be able to verify that the correct audits have taken place.

Hi all,I am new to Dot Net applications.
In my application i want to read the .Lis file,
can anyone suggest me the right approach for doing this?
Thanks in advance...

You need to either find a library that does it and use it in your application or read specification for .lis file format and write your own parser.

Hi,
I am currently using SCSF/CAB in my GUI plug-in-able application and I want to add it a sandbox feature. I have found that CLR-Addin framework gives me a perfect solution for isolation, but I didn't find any documentation on how to declare a type/service dynamically ( like in CAB )
This is from Glen Block Blog:
"One challenge around using MAF is in regards to how contracts are declared. MAF requires you to specifically expose everything you want to pass across the wire via a set of contracts (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb384205.aspx). This is different than the way we customarily access services in a non-MAF world, which is by simply injecting them in the constructor. There are other ways with MAF to expose types (services) without being as explicit, though there is not alot out there documenting this approach.
Glenn"
So my question is what are the ways with MAF to expose services without being explicit ?
Is there any adapter/contract which can pass object by reference?
Is there any documentation/example I can look into it ?
Thanks,
Dmitriy

So - you know your highest level requirement. Now, you need to break this down into more detailed user requirements. May I recommend talking to users, and drawing up a set of use cases to cover the requirements, possibly moving on to some storyboards and detailed activity and sequence diagrams.
Or are you expecting us to give you the code.

Or if what Pete suggested isn't what you were looking for, I'll just say "Permission granted! Please proceed."

Don't you think that the permission was given too easily without any real justification to proceed
