Hi,
I am working on a C# application. I have a windows form that has some richtext box, some images, buttons etc. I have created this application on my dektop PC. But when I run this on any other Laptop or tablet PC, the form doesn't get scaled properly.
Also, if I maximize it then also the contents in the form should be scaled but it doesn't. Kindly assist.
Cheers!!

This is actually a PITA problem with Crystal Reports and a good question for novices of the tool.

Crystal is a PITA, call refresh database (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) before programatically using the report. If that doesn't work you can, in-code, assign the username and password before calling refresh ... maybe it is called verify database?

can anyone help me to understand the Difference between asynchronous and synchronous function with small code snippet.
Thanks

asynchronous[^]
synchronous/synchronization[^]
No code snippet required really, an async function will normally return immediately and continue doing it's thing afterwards (on a seperate thread?) so the current thread is not blocked. A sync function will return at the end of the function, so the current thread is blocked while the function is running.
DaveBTW, in software, hope and pray is not a viable strategy. (Luc Pattyn)Visual Basic is not used by normal people so we're not covering it here. (Uncyclopedia)

The main diffrence in Sync and Async function is "In Sync function: one has to wait till the function returnsthe control after exececution.In Async once one send the call to function one has not wait for the result during this one can do another task,when function execution gets completed it returns the value." well not much, but if is synchronous starts a work and after finished stars the next one, if is asynchronous can start many at same time.
If is asynchronous will not be stuck somehere and deals many calls at same time. (needed in chat applications)

There is no esay way that I know of, all you can do is write some code to pad each field to the required size - or pad the columns in your select to the required size.
Hope this helps

I have managed to resolve this. See below.
StreamWriter sfw = new StreamWriter(@"W:\CTS Product\Mobile_Email_Updates\mob_email_" + DateTime.Today.ToString("ddMMyyyyhhmm") + ".txt", false);
DataTable dt = m_dtMobEmail;
foreach (DataRow dr in dt.Rows)
{
if (dr["Exported"].ToString() == "0")
{
sfw.WriteLine(dr["HolderRef"].ToString() + dr["DateConf"].ToString() + dr["MobileNum"].ToString().PadRight(20) +
dr["EmailAdd"].ToString().PadRight(80) + dr["Comms"].ToString() + dr["Confirmed"].ToString() + dr["Via"].ToString() +
dr["DateConf"].ToString());
}
}
sfw.Close();

I'd like to include a list of values in my app.config file that has no specific length.
I don't want to use "Setting 1" "Setting 2" etc. for obvious reasons.
I could define a type that wraps a List<string> for example and use this as the type for a custom section...
However this seems a little over the top. I am also dealing with a distributed system that has various components, and so I would like to avoid having to make that type available to in all of them.
Does anybody know a lightweight way of achieving this that is already part of the framework / System.Configuration namespace?
Thanks

I use a settings datatable based on an XML file, easy to maintain, easy to manage and you have complete control of it.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortuantely using a database is not really viable for this particular problem, as some of the components involved are deployed at customers' premises. I don't want to add the complexity of deploying a database engine etc.
Thanks,
Rob.

Ahhh...
I've just re-read your post. Properly this time
Do you think it is possible to use a datatable as a Type for a custom config section?
The solution is quite committed to using app.config and System.Configuration. I wouldn't want to have to have a second xml file containing the serialised datatable - so I'd need to get it into app.config somehow...
Thanks again,
Rob.

LINQ to XML would work, and you could write/read your own file without worrying about messing up or dealing with multiple app.config files.
I'd probably create a class lib project that you can use in multiple assemblies. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with something usable and flexible.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
I have decided on the following:
Declare a section in app.config ilke this:
<section name="LogMessageReceiverConfig" type="RealTimeDelivery.Common.Logging.LogMessageReceiverConfigHandler, LogMessageReceiver"/>
The section then utilised like this:
<SecondaryIdentifiersSect>
<setting name="aaa" serializeAs="String">
<value>a1</value>
</setting>
<setting name="bbb" serializeAs="String">
<value>b1</value>
</setting>
<setting name="ccc" serializeAs="String">
<value>c1</value>
</setting>
</SecondaryIdentifiersSect>
and then accessed in code like this:
System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection sect = (System.Configuration.ClientSettingsSection)System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.GetSection("SecondaryIdentifiersSect");
foreach (System.Configuration.SettingElement e in sect.Settings)
{
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(e.Name);
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(e.Value.ValueXml.InnerText);
}

Is this HOmework? A little bit of effort won't kill you. Try first and see what you come up with. If you get stuc along the way then somebody here will be more than happy to help but people here don't take kindly to guys looking for somebody to do their homework for them.
