Can you just use the .NET Framework's compilers? They're free to use and included with the .NET Framework SDKs. (I think they're included with the Windows SDK[^] now.) I don't know about redistribution, but you can always require the user to download the Windows SDK separately.

I have looked into the compilers built into the .NET framework before, and I know I came across errors when the computer did not have the SDK and just the .NET redistributable framework. So the SDK might have to be a requirement for the IDE.

SharpDevelop[^] is an Open-Source .NET IDE. You might want to take a look at it if you haven't already.
You can use the C# and VB compilers from Microsoft on the command line (csc.exe/vbc.exe), via System.CodeDom, or use MSBuild to build Visual Studio projects. With MSBuild, you again have the option to use it on the command line (MSBuild.exe) or with the Microsoft.Build.* assemblies.
Everything (csc.exe, vbc.exe, MSBuild.exe and those libraries) is included in the .NET Framework runtime.

Yep. Now that you mention that, I just thought of that guy, Osmosian(?), wondering if he's working on Swahili.NET.
A quick search reveals that he is, indeed, still working on the English version and is, STILL, trying to get the world to see the light of his ways. Even in the non-programming world, he's referred to as a... well... see for yourself here[^].

You don't. This is normally done by system admins at the Share/Folder level. You normally never give permissions directly to files.

i know that file.copy(sorce,destination) used to copy a file ,
but its work well locally but for remote computer it gave a permission error.when i write "\\server\d$\softwares".
please guide me?

Do you have given permision to this folder "\\server\d$\softwares"? Give access to both source and destination folder?

You're going to need to know exactly how and why Windows networking works in order to do stuff like this.
You're getting this error because the account your code is running under (yours!) does not have write permissions to the D$ share on the target machine and/or the softwares folder under it.
This can be because the machines are in networked in workgroup, where each machine has it's own list of accounts it trusts. Or, it could be, even though the machines are part of a domain, your account doesn't have permissions to that share/folder.

Hello,
I am developing with VS2005 (VB)
I wrote a program that is used by mulitple users at the same time. It contains a datagridview and when a user is editing a spcific record I would like that the data will be refreshed autoatically in all the users screen.
I don't want to use timer or flags for refreshing the data but a property like "resync" for example that exists in ADODB.recordset
Is ther e any solution

If you are using SQL Server 2005/2008 take a look at Notification service , but be warned if you have a lot of users there is a substantial overhead.

this is a typical nightmare some developers get into sooner or later. There is no elegant solution to this. Notification services will do the job but the overhead in both system and support is horrible.
Some solutions:
Timer as you have surmised it the standard solution.
Do not allow inline editing - force the user to a dialog for CRUD and reload the grid when they return (I use this)
Test the record BEFORE allowing inline editing and warn the user. Reload the grid when the record is saved.

Of course but you are not going to like it. Be VERY sure this is a real world issue and not some BA's fantasy. Most developers percieve this as an issue early in their careers and find out it almost never actually happens.
I usually don't display ALL the information for a record in the grid so when the dialog goes to get the data to fill all the details it gets/sets as locked flag. If the record returned is locked then don't display the save button.
There are HUGE arguments on the best way to implement this, issues such as invalid flags, how to flag time/user/both, how to clear flags. Having said that I have NEVER had to implement this type (or any) of record locking scheme. It has always been an architect who proposes it then the business looks at the likelyhood of data corruption and the cost and hassle of implementing it and chucks it out.

Hi,
I want to chnage the default property of the form in VB.NET. Means, when we create a form with out any controls and run, there is an icon will display at top right corner. When we click on that icon, we will get the menu items as follows
Restore
Move
Size
Minimize
Maximize
X Close Alt+F4
Now I want to change these menu Items. How can I do this?
For example
I want to change the menu Item "Close Alt+F4" to "Close Ctrl+F4"
I want to add new menu Item "Next Ctrl+F6"
How can we do this? Please let me know.
