Hi all;
my project uses form auth.
i want a page requires windows authentication.
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
<authentication mode="Windows">
</authentication>
</system.web>
</configuration>
but it still says
Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
how could i fix this issue?

did you validate the IIS Settings for the same? Check ASP.NET Version and Security Settings
for your virtual directory.

you can use a timer for it.after a certain time use "session.abondan()" and then redirect to login page.

plz give answer in ASP.NET using C#.i have developed a sms web application,want to send birthday alarm automatically to register user.I have store all the information in sqlserver like birthday date.
|
|
|
|
|
Personally I think a seperate windows service would have been a better way to have done this. Implementing a timer in it which runs once a day and sends a sms to all the users who's birthday it is on the current day from the sql database.
|
|
|
|
|
If you think about it, a web page is totally the wrong application for this. What you are trying to achieve is something that runs once a day and sends out the sms greetings. How about a console application that is scheduled to run once a day, using windows scheduler. At a push you could use a windows service, but it will be running constantly and using system resources unnecessarily.

Hello,
I need help on how to create dynamic pages in the website on fly.
For Eg: in the c-sharpcorner site itself one of the member(author) posted a article the URL as below
http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/ankithakur/ADOEF310102008095055AM/ADOEF3.aspx
ankithakur - is the folder name created with author name in the website of csharpcorner.
ADOEF310102008095055AM/ADOEF3.aspx is the dynamic page created when posted the article.
So i need help on how to create a dynamic pages on fly when user submits some articles or data to my website.

Creating pages at runtime is not a good idea. When the site becomes big, you will find it difficult to maintain. Read about URL Rewriting. There are some good URL Rewriting frameworks available for ASP.NET.

you can show popup from server side Page_Load() Method of content page. you can use Page.ClientScript or ScriptManager.RegisterStartupBlock ( For AJAX ) to show the popup.

U can use the code in .aspx page inside the content place holder tag,in code behind page in page_load event just type the modal popup control id.show.
Eg: popupmsg.show()

Documentation[^] says this clearly.
ServicePath - The path to the web service that the extender will pull the word\sentence completions from. If this is not provided, the service method should be a page method.

I have a gridview and I want to sort so I added the code but when I click the column header to sort, the page comes back empty with no grid and no data. This is a grid that I bound to my datasource. I also have another button to do some other processing to selected records, and that button works, however, it doesn't bring back the gridview with the data in it either. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like you are not binding the datasourse on postback.
Have you bound the datasource to the gridview in codebehind?
and forgotten to rebind it when the page (updatepanel) posts back?

Is using session variable as a reference to a datatable bad pratice?
It seems to be an easy way to keep a datatable in scope when going from page to page but for a high traffic website is this going to cause problems on the web server?

Most likely. Of course "high traffic" is an ambiguous term, but in it's general use, yes. If you take some time to Google using MSDN as the first keyword followed by key words like Session Cache Database etc., you should have no trouble finding plenty of information on the subject.
