Can you retry? I just modified your article and checked and it's all good from where I can see it.

We did have a bug but that was fixed Saturday night. If you can reproduce this bug (from a fresh load of the article editor) then let me know ASAP.

I just cleared the cache again, and went back to the page. The article text does not reflect the changes I submitted. Under "History", there should be an entry for 10/14/2008, but it's not there in my browser. Do you see it?

John Simmons just published an article on scrapping stats for articles. That makes four that I know of:

I think this shows that authors like to watch the votes accumulate on their articles. I certainly do. It takes a lot of effort to produce a decent article, so how about supporting the authors with more feedback?

The little graph of number of votes is great, thanks Smile | :)

So, how about a stats page for each article, showing votes cast, changed and deleted, preferably with the status of the voter. It could also show the changes in rating and popularity as the votes change. If this info could also be exposed in a web service, that would be even better!

It would be better if we had an API in the form of a web service or something like that. I suggested that Chris come up with an assembly (sufficiently obfuscated of course) that we could use to access an article database, but I don't think he's having any of it. Then, the articles would be about the app using the assembly than the part that parses the scraped web page (and we'd be able to concentrate on the UI instead of the core code).

The clamour for an API is loud and clear and yes, I'll provide one. The only issue is hours in the day - we are stretched incredibly thin at the moment and are trying to work on "Must Fix Now Or Life As We Know It Will End" bugs before we tackle "Now that *would* be nice" features.

Can we have a section where we can see the list of all active member for that day ? it may be based on forum answer, votes on messages .
because codeproject have a very good and strong section for Article competetion and I think there should have a highlighting section for them also. and how to decide a Active member that depends on CP Admin Smile | :)

When is something going to be done about the article voting system?

I'm going to ask this every time I get a 1 vote on one of my articles.

I'd like to officially request that the two '1' votes be removed from my Article scraping article, and that the people that voted that way be reprimanded for being asshats. There's NO WAY a normal person would vote '1' on that article.

I think only those people vote article as 1 who never writes article on CP. Becuase they dont know how much efforts need to put to write a complete article.
There is no reason to vote a article as 1 unless and until its useless or unable to read or something like that.

Well, that's a nice thought and all, but when an article has (for instance), 14,000 views and only 18 votes, I don't think a request like that is going to have much of an effect.

A lot of people that view articles here aren't even members.

I'm not going to remove every '1' vote anyone gets on an article. For that I may as well just remove the "1" option on the voting form.

This is the internet. It's full of anonymous cowards. The more you try to coral them the more they will work around you and make it even messier. Let time do its thing and let your articles' scores settle to a voting value indicative of its true worth and let the voting histogram speak for itself.
