Not to mention that he should already know the most basic things about the ASCII character set, like that the letter A has the character code 65 (0x41). From there you can count on your fingers to get to the letter N...

You'd think so. I don't know about how computer science/programming is taught where ever he was introduced, but that should have been one of the first things covered.

There is no such character in the ASCII character set. Styling of the text is not specified in the character itself.

If you are trying to show Enter in something like a button, you need to have a & before the character you want to underline. Be more clear as to what you are doing.

Where do you want to show that? How the text is styled depends on where and how you output it.

The text looks like how you show that a control has an accelerator button. Is that perhaps what you are really looking for?

No there is no ASCII for such a thing. Like Guffa said, ASCII codes do not extend to styling and formatting.

I have been using crystal reports in visual studio 2005-2008 and have experienced this in both versions.
We have a few reports that when we print them from our application by passing the crystal viewer but still using the crystal reports print method, that it will print out in portrait instead of landscape. We have tried all options that we can come up with to resolve this in the code(changing the option on the report manually setting the layout to landscape etc.) but it still prints in portrait. What makes this even stranger is that when we print to the crystal reports viewer and then print from there it works as expected. Also this seems to only happen on Sharp copiers. I have contacted Sharp with no luck they say that it is a Crystal problem and that they have never heard of this and to contact Crystal which we did with the same answer it must be a Sharp issue. Any insight into why this is happening would be much appreciated because we really don't want to replace 5 copiers and we don't really want to rely on a work around that we have to train each user on for these reports.

Are you using a printdialog?
I'v had several print problems with CR in the past (among wich was scalling and such), and when contacted CR about it I got a little bit more insight into how it works (still a pain in the ass but...)
Basicly CR doesn't really do much about the printing, they leave it up at the OS. I do have some ways to do this but I'm currently not able to access the code (I will be in a couple hours)

you don't pass the page orientation to the report (so he normally takes the one set on the report)
What I do is I use the
system.drawing.printing.printersettings and system.drawing.printing.pagesttings classes
The printerdialog box contains both of these
and the printtoprinter methode of the report accepts these
That way you pass every option set in the dialog box to the report

hi all,
i want to compare each character of my string variable to all characters of UTF-8 character set(i think there are near about 65000 character). and remove any character of variable which it is not in list of UTF -8 Character set.
anybody have idea that how can i perform this operation efficiently ?
