Arn't CAB files using the same format as ZIP files? try changing the extension on the cab file and see how your system reacts to it. If that works then try using a library for manipulating zip files.

Hi all,
I have code in WM6.1 and cf 2.5 (I believe) that overrides the WndProc to intercept messages going to a web browser control with the intent of disabling the context menu. I am successfully intercepting the messages and preventing the context menu from showing. However, as soon as I navigate off the form back to the previous one, that form will be frozen for a few seconds and then I get a GWES.exe error - usually a couple of them. The interesting thing is that I get that error if I click the web browser in any manner. E.g. I can just click a link or click in the middle of some text - not a tap-and-hold - and still the gwes.exe error, but if I don't click the control anywhere, just scroll for instance, no error occurs. Below is some code snippets:
Private Const WM_CONTEXTMENU = &H7B 'message to intercept to suppress context menu
Private wbHWnd As IntPtr 'Hold the pointer of the window to subclass
Private GWL_WNDPROC As IntPtr = New IntPtr((-4)) 'Parameter for setwindowlong
Private prevHandle As IntPtr 'Original handle of window to subclass
Private myCallback As New SubclassCallback(AddressOf Me.SubclassCallbackHandler)
' Prototype delegate to handle callbacks from subclassed control
Private Delegate Function SubclassCallback(ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal Msg As IntPtr, ByVal wParam As IntPtr, ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As IntPtr
' Subclasses a control with a callback
Private Declare Function SetWindowLong Lib "coredll" (ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal nIndex As Int32, ByVal dwNewLong As SubclassCallback) As IntPtr
Private Declare Function GetWindowLong Lib "coredll" (ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal nIndex As Int32) As IntPtr
' Unsubclasses a control
Private Declare Function SetWindowLong Lib "coredll" (ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal nIndex As Long, ByVal dwNewLong As IntPtr) As IntPtr
' Forwards a message to a subclassed control
Private Declare Function CallWindowProc Lib "coredll" (ByVal lpPrevWndFunc As IntPtr, ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal Msg As IntPtr, ByVal wParam As IntPtr, ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As IntPtr
'** This is in the form load
'Get the handle to the appropriate window to suppress the context menu
Dim ptrChildWindows() As IntPtr = GetWindows(Me.wbMessage.Handle)
Dim ptrChildWindows2() As IntPtr = GetWindows(ptrChildWindows(0))
'Used CE Spy to determine which window received the context menu messages
Me.wbHWnd = ptrChildWindows2(1)
' Subclass the window that receives the messages needed to suppress the context menu
Me.prevHandle = SetWindowLong(Me.wbHWnd, GWL_WNDPROC, Me.myCallback)
' Handles all the messages sent to original handle
Private Function SubclassCallbackHandler(ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal Msg As IntPtr, ByVal wParam As IntPtr, ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As IntPtr
' Process whatever messages you want here
Select Case Msg
Case WM_CONTEXTMENU
' 'Don't process
Return 1
Case Else
' NOTE : THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT ! FORWARD MESSAGE TO ORIGINAL HANDLE
Return CallWindowProc(Me.prevHandle, hWnd, Msg, wParam, lParam)
End Select
End Function
Private Sub frmHTMLMessage_Closing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles MyBase.Closing
' Unsubclass control (use overloaded version)
SetWindowLong(Me.wbHWnd, GWL_WNDPROC, Me.prevHandle)
End Sub
Cheers,
Rob

For anyone that is even remotely interested in this issue, I have resolved the problem I was having.
The error seemed to occur after I removed the hook in the closing event of the form, so I removed the
code that took the hook out and, poof, no more errors.

There is a Linux port of the common language runtime[^] but it is for desktop machines, not mobile machines. That is the closest thing of which I know.

Hi Wasimsharp,

hi wasim,
First of all, Post the Question in related form(since you post same question in C# form) and post only once.
i am also start the iPhone programming yesterday. As far as i know you can not develop a application for iPhone using .net framework
use COCOA framework and Objective-C for this purpose.
hope this will give you little idea.

Rupesh Kumar Swami wrote: As far as i know you can not develop a application for iPhone using .net framework
I can say with certainity that you cannot use the .Net framework on the iPhone. The use of any type of virtual machine or third party scripting language beyond what is provided by apple is prohibited by the development agreement. Symbian phones are the only non-MS phones of which I know that can be programmed using .Net, but only through a third party library[^].

I think you'll be able to do it soon. iPhone is simply an OSX where Mono runs on. Maybe Mono can release a version to run Mono on iPhone and you'll be able to write software on iPhone.

My application is on the SD card. Sometimes the user removes the SD card while the application is running. Some operations will read and write some data to the SD card. So the application often crashes. How to deal with the problem? Who can give me some suggestion?

Detecting the insertion or removal of a memory card is going to require some native code. A few months ago I posted an article here on automatically starting a Windows Mobile program [^] when a certain event occurs. You would need to use CeRunAppAtEvent to run something for the NOTIFICATION_EVENT_DEVICE_CHANGE event. In addition to being able to run programs the CeRunAppAtEvent can also be used to send a notification to your program via an event. As stated on the MSDN page for CeRunAppAtEvent[^] the format for the event name would be @"\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\YourEventName." If you need information on creating events in Windows Mobile I published some sample code[^] for them yesterday.

I need to uninstall Applications from windows mobile based device without using activesync or System> Remove application. Is there a way to do something similar to msiexec but on the mobile device itself?

So I have a website- www.iamnotinfected.com that I'm trying to develop a mobile site for. I'm fairly new to web development and I'm trying to figure out how to have my site automatically detect if a user is browsing with a mobile device and direct them to a mobile version of my site.
From what I've read I need some kind of browser sniffing code but I'm not sure what/how/where I need to implement it in my existing site. Once I figure out how to implement this I'll have no problem designing the mobile site itself.
Remember, I'm fairly new to web development so if you could provide any suggestions/help in layman's terms that'd be cool! any help is appreciated though!

"Browser Sniffing" is a bit of a misnomer; one would think that something is actually probing the browser. but the browser identifies itself everytime it downloads a web page, image, or script. What you need to check is the user agent string that the server receives (the details of this will varry depending on the type of server you use).
There's another website that identifies the user agent strings[^] associated with mobile browsers. have a look at it.

I'm making an application, one of the requirements is to select a phone number from the contact list (as you would with sending a SMS).
I'm sure the .net framework has some support for this, but I'm a little lost as to wear to look.
Any direction would be helpful

Get a contact by creating a Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.OutlookSession, then using the Contacts property. You can then call Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Telephony.Phone.Talk to initiate the call.

I meant like bringing up their address book / contact list to select a number and then store it in my textbox
