I think you asked this already. The problem is in the setup of the SQL Server. By default, it does not allow connections from remote PC's on TCP/IP. Go into the Configuration Manager and enable remote connections.

I have a windows application having a AxWebBrowser control in a form.
I am using the same AxWebBrowser control to display many different excel files one after the other.
- How can i make the file Read only / Non editable
My observations:
- The application is working fine till the time nothing is edited in the excel, once i enter even one character, and do not get the focus out of the cell. Now try to load a new file. I get a pop-up window of : File download, Download to : temp folder
- In the previous situation if a do come out of the cell it asks me for save yes/No/Cancel. On click of yes it even saves the changes
Is there any way i can unload without saving or something like that if non editable is not possible

I think the error message tells you what is wrong, you are tryin gto add the item to the dictionary twice. Run in debug and see whats happening.

The exception message is self-explanitory. You're trying to add the same key to your dictionary collection twice. The Dictionary class uses key/value pairs to store information. Each key added to the Dictionary must be unique and you're trying to add the same key twice.

Hello All,
I am new to VB.NET and I'm trying to get more familiar with the language by creating simple programs. I am trying to create a calculator that displays two different interfaces depending on whether the scientific or the regular radio button is chosen. Suppose I am using the regular calculator then decide to switch to the scientific calculator. How do I make all of the buttons of the regulator calculator disappear and replace everything except the display with a different set of buttons to reflect the differences between the scientific and regular calculators? Thank you in advance for your time,

The issue is not in, while your are changing to scientific to standard.
if you are changing from standard to scientific u have to add/display the
some more buttons. Your code is common for both scientific & standard.
keep the scientific buttons in the one group box, standard buttons in the another group box and calc-display in another group box.
keep change the group boxes display as per your requirement, and
your application form size also.

Thanks for your response FATAL ERROR, I don't know if I understand you correctly. Are you saying that I can group the two different sets of buttons and the display in different boxes then display the appropriate box when needed? If so how do I display one box while hiding other boxes? Thanks again for your response.

U are not supposed to group, but u have to take a group box which is available under containers in ur IDE's tool box. And now you can put button on / inside it.

groupbox1.visible = true or False will do the trick for u

i researched on this and found that this can be done using Microsoft TAPI. can you help me in this?
|
|
|
|
|
You'll need a TAPI library to do this. There are a few them running around, but none of them complete implementations of TAPI 3.0. You'll also need a fully compliant TAPI capable modem to do this.
That's about all the help I can give due to very limited experience.

I need to be able to write information, just simple lines of text, to the COM port on a normal pc and then receive back a response from that same COM port. I need to do this from vb.net 2005. Anyone have experience doing tt?

PC comports are full duplex, u can send,receive data from same comport at-a-time.
2 pin - Rx - Receive
3 Pin - Tx - Send
Use Serialport control in your program to invoke the PC Comports

Ya.. but i am not familiar with the control and i search the internet for information but dun really understand how it works. Now wat i am using a source code i found on the web but seen very complication and whenever i need to use a value i do not know which part of the code generate the value.

ya.., using serial port control is very easy, in the net u can get code samples for the comports using windows APIs, these are very good.
choose the controls as per your requirement, using APIs code u can get very fast communication

Hello,
What practice is best if you are trying to save coping and pasting thousands of lines of reusable code. Currently I have all the code in a module. I have included an example. The problem I'm having is; I cannot retrieve any information from a calling sub in a form.
I'm trying to have a combo box with the size listing and I want to retrieve a specific piece of information when selecting a size. Like the "HEIGHT". I have to use Class Library's for my projects to create dll files that will work with my 3D modeling program. I've read some about creating class objects but not sure about how to accomplish that or if it's really what I need to do. If someone could shed some light on my dilemma, I would really appreciate it.
Module Module1
Public Function RMT(ByVal RMTSize As String, Optional ByRef WIDTH As Double = 0, Optional ByRef HEIGHT As Double = 0, Optional ByRef WALLTH As Double = 0, Optional ByRef OUTRAD As Double = 0) As Double
Select Case RMTSize
Case "3 x 2 x 3/16"
WIDTH = 3.0
HEIGHT = 2.0
WALLTH = 0.1875
OUTRAD = 0.375
Case "3 x 2 x 1/4"
WIDTH = 3.0
HEIGHT = 2.0
WALLTH = 0.25
OUTRAD = 0.5
