I've got the same problem with a Panel and GridView.
I want to size the grid to fit in vertically, but allow scroll horizontally.
If I put the grid view in a Panel, when the grid data is displayed it exceeds the width of the panel. The horizontal scroll bar is displayed when this happens, which is what I want. However, this forces the vertical scroll bar to appear as the grid height + horizontal scrollbar height now exceeds the Panel height - which is not what I want.
If I change the size of the grid, it autosizes the grid rows to fit the grid height which does not work.
Any ideas,
Cheers,
Andez

When I invoke Web Site Administration Tool from VS 2008 I get ASPNETDB database in my APP_DATA folder. I had no intention to use it but my own DB. How to fix this problem?

Did you run aspnet_regsql.exe to make the provider to create the database? I'm no expert at this, but I recently had to make a custom personalization provider and if you didn't first make the database, it wouldn't use it. Someone feel free to correct me here.

It is any requests coming to www.abc.com or www.abc.com/index.aspx or www.abc.com/book/index.aspx........ or any requests for directories / subdomains / pages under www.abc.com to be redirected to outage.aspx. This outage.aspx is in teh local computer. How do i specify wildcards? How do i configure the settings in IIS6.0. Pls let me know.

Well, this is an ASP.NET forum, not an IIS forum. Just change the website's settings in IIS under the Home Directory tab on IIS6.

Use Visual Studio 2008, just set the target platform to 2.0.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

May be this will help you.
First change the internetexplorer>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Uncheck Disable script debugging.
Then in your javascript code just write debugger; .Now you can debug the code.

Vs2008 can debug JS. Firefox has an addon named Firebug which allows to debug JS.

Hi,
I have a website that has been created in ASP.NET it stores data on a remote SQL 2005 database and media on a remote file share.
The problem I have hear is that the site was created by someone else in C# and I need to do some reporting against the site. I will use a entirely different site on a different server for this that will have access to the SQL server and file share.
Basicaly my problem is this.
A user can create a profile and upload a picture. The site save the picture and want I need to do is display a list of users with pictures so I can proof them and check they are suitable.
There is a users table in the database which holds details about the user. But the ID (this is the primary key for the table) is used for the file path to the remote file share. So the path is for example \\profilepicture\{ID}\picture.jpg
So I want to display users with a picture in a gridview
How can I pull the ID file and place it in a path to display the picture?
Any code example would be very grateful

You can creat a column template in the gridview. Add a image object to that template and create a custom binding.
<asp:Image ID="img1" runat="server" ImageUrl='<%# "file://servername/share/" + Eval("id") + "/picture.jpg" %>' />

Many thanks for your reply.
I have created the following
<asp:gridview id="Registered_Users" runat="server" autogeneratecolumns="false" datasourceid="SqlDataSource5>
<columns>
">
<asp:sqldatasource id="SqlDataSource4" runat="server" connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:PictureConnectionString %>" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
SelectCommand="SELECT [FirstName], [LastName], [Email], [Id] FROM Users WHERE JobTitle IS NOT NULL">
However I get an error in VS 2005
Code blocks are not supported in this context
Run running the page I get
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.

I forgot to encode so the display was wrong so here it is again
<asp:GridView ID="Registered_Users" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource5">
<columns>
<asp:Image ID="Profile_Pic" ImageUrl="<%# "file://data/profilepictures/" + Eval("id")+ "/original.100x100.jpg" %>"></asp:Image>
</columns>
</asp:GridView>
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource4" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:PictureConnectionString %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [FirstName], [LastName], [Email], [Id] FROM Users WHERE JobTitle IS NOT NULL">
</asp:SqlDataSource>

I've got two drop down lists on a page, both connected to a separate sql datasource. The first drop down list is a list of States in the database, the second is a list of political offices that fall under the oversight of the state selected in the first box. If I select a state first, the second drop down list will populate just fine, but if I select another state, the values for the offices of the new state are appended to the bottom of the list after the offices of the first state.
Now, I got the appenddatabounditems set to true so that I can have a "Select" statement at the top of the list if there isn't anything selected. Is this the problem, and if so is there a work around for this?

I usually create a dummy item for the select and then append it to the top of my datasource.
Personally I don't like data binding so would rather populate the list with the associated loop instead making it more obvious what is going on and giving this level of control more naturally.
Either flavor will work in your situation ... one more suggestion is to use Javascript for the entire procedure instead of postbacks or ajax which really works well for small lists.

Hi First time it comming fine because it's clear so now In the SelectedIndex_Changed event
DropDownLost1.Clear();
Code to bind data to DropDownList
Then DropDownList1.Items.InsertAt(0,"Select");
I think it will solve your problem

Hi All,
I'm working in Asp.Net 2.0. I've a text box and search button. If I type text in the text box, data should show the bottom of the text box with starts the name of typed character.
For Ex., I type the country name in the text box. I have the country list in my database. If I type 'I', the bottom of the text box should show India, Indonesia, etc. I tried with Autocomplete ajax tool kit. It is working their demonstration, but not in my appn.
Thanks in adv.

I guess you should read the docs, then ask the people who wrote EasyPDF.
