i want to seacrh in a text like "hello code project"
and i want to know how many time the letter 'e' for example comes in this text
and i want to know how many time the letter 'e' for example comes in the first in the word , last in the word, middle in the word
is there a way to do that

You could simply iterate the string. You can use IndexOf method to search for desired characters and Split method to break the sentence into words.

You could try investigating something like this:
string mytext = "hello code project";
string[] words = mytext.Split(' ');
int wordcount = words.Length;
int numberOfInterestingCharacters;
foreach (string word in words) {
numberOfInterestingCharacters = word.Split('e').Length - 1;
}

There are three 'e' characters
There is one 'e' in each word.
I really don't see the need to write software to do the counting in that situation. If you did it with .Net 3.5, you'd need to ship your 30k program and the 305mb runtime installer. Let's talk about overkill.

I'm sorry that someone did your homework for you. I suggest you spend some time REALLY understanding the code you were given, so you're capable of building on it with the next assignment.

string.Split is a good tool for what you need; some counting jobs can be based on string.Replace too!

Hi,
I'm stuck on a little situation. I am aware that controls can be added to group boxes - but how can I add graphics to groupboxes?
The situation is:
I have created a groupbox. Inside this groupbox, I want to graph a function. I am able to draw the graph and everything, but if I display the graph, it shows behind the group box! This function is graphed during runtime, but how can I add it inside the group box?
A screenshot might help explain what I mean:

I did not know it can work this way (I am a beginner), but it worked well. I did this to test it out:

PaintEventArgs hi = new PaintEventArgs(groupBox_egram.CreateGraphics(), grid);
groupBox_egram_Paint(menuEGram, hi);

private void groupBox_egram_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e)
{
e.Graphics.DrawRectangle(new Pen(Color.Black),new Rectangle(5, 100, 100, 100));
}
This might seem like another really basic question.. but is there a way that I can use the Rectangle that I created inside PaintEventArgs e instead of creating a new one?

No, It draws a rectangle inside your GB.

I don't think so and I don't think so it's necessary to do that. You can do whatever you want by cleaning current Rectangle and redrawing a new one.

Problem solved! I appreciate it. I found out that the reason it drew the rectangle in my form was because I created the graphics object in the form, and then I used it twice. So I used groupBox_egram.CreateGraphics() instead of this.CreateGraphics().

A groupbox, nor any other control in the ToolBox, is not transparent. You'd have to move the graphing code to the Paint event of the GroupBox and draw the box yourself. If the graph is being drawn by, or in, another control, you're going to have to change your design to accomodate this. Since you're really not using the GroupBox to group RadioButtons or other selection controls together, you can get away with removing the groupbox and just drawing your own frame around the graphing control yourself in the Form's Paint event.

Use the designer to put a suitable control into the groupbox. The suitable control might be a PictureBox, and put the graphic in that control.
