Your questions do not appear to have a common thread, in terms of making sense in the context of one project. What they have in common is that
a - someone who had read any sort of book on VB development would probably have a better idea of the things you're asking about
b - you show no signs of having tried to do any of these things yourself
c - if you typed your question verbatim into google, you'd almost certainly get an answer for all of them

It makes you wonder which university he's going to and what degree program he's in.
I countered that 1.0 you got. It's sad that people just want answers handed to them instead of learning how to teach themselves.

Yeah, as I've said before, getting 1s for trying to help people learn instead of doing their jobs is one reason I stopped posting for a while.

And the modern voting system, offering only "good answer" / "bad answer" on some message types has made things worse, since a lot of OPs now are inclined to heavily downvote everything that is not an immediate, simple, prechewed and effective answer in their opinion.
I tried to explain this to Chris several times but he fails (or refuses) to understand it. So I stopped providing "answers", I now provide "generals" all the time; they at least still offer a 1-to-5 voting choice. If that gets taken away too, I will enter all forums in read-only mode only.

Google for Windows Image Acquisition (WIA). There's plenty of examples out on the web.
Saving the image to a database is a seperate operation, and again, there's a ton of example on the web. Google for "vb.net save image to SQL database".

I give you the simplest of answers and you vote me down for it.
I gave you everythying you need to do your own research. You're in college right? Being a student in college is ENTIRELY about doing research and teaching yourself, not having answers handed to you.
Good luck...

I stopped answering for a while b/c good answers get 5s and sarcastic ones to morons are the best way to get 5s. It's a sad state of affairs. ( I 5d you BTW )
I see you're still an MVP, congrats. I got kicked on my ear for not liking Vista.

Yeah, we'll see what happens come April 1. I haven't spent too much time around here this year because of the arrival of a new little munchkin. When you hear people say that kids take up a huge amount of your time, you have no idea what they really mean!

I know what you mean about question and answer thing. I've watched the quality of questions just fall through the floor ever since the outsourcing thing went into high gear. Sadly, since outsourcing is slowly becoming passe', the quality of questions, nor the people asking them, hasn't improved.
Didn't anyone stop to think about how good of an idea it was to outsource to countries where the number of PC's per capita was so low? In 2004 it was 12 per 1000 people, compared to the U.S, where it was 763. Really, what kind of experience base did they think they were dealing with?!?! In an industry where experience is everything, what kind of quality did they really expect to get in such a short "ramp up" time??

I know from my rentacoder experience, the sort of people doing blind outsourcing are really pretty stupid. They are basically people who wouldn't consider getting something build if they didn't think they could get it for $200, and certainly half the issue a lot of the time is that they are as incapable of delivering a meaningful spec as the teams are of building from one.
Congats on the new one. I am sure you'll be OK. Helping lots of people, but saying that you don't like Vista is a good way to get kicked off, I suspect that not drawing attention to yourself is a good way to stay in, even if you've not posted as much lately.

I know this may sound very easy one. But i am trying to do this from past one hour and unable to get any further. Can any one please help me. How Extract Words that start with <% and Ends With %> in html using RegExp.
So what code do you have?
Uhhh... how about the complete code that does the search, not just what appears to be a partial RegEx expression.
That would only match the start tag. Try something like:
<%(.+?)%>
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Hi there, I have to create a software agent that plays MP3's. I want to be able to store the day that a song was last played along with a rating which the user sets (thinking combo boxes)... Therefore this data needs to be stored in a database.
I'm designing it in Visual Studio and using VB.
In the database there is a field for the location of the track on the hard drive along with the artsits and track name, etc...
But I can't get the Form to play the files...
So far I have the media player component, Binding Source and a Data Grid View. The binding source and grid view are connected to the data base, but is there anyway that I can combine the media player to the database (maybe via the data grid)??
If there is a better way to go about doing this then plase speak up
Many thanks.
OK, so all you need to do is get the file path from the dataset and then tell your media player component what the file path to play is. The BindingSource cannot be bound to the player, so you'll have to pass that file path along yourself.

From what I read in the article about how to post questions, i understand that i should ask to the experts. so i am asking to the experts of vb because my question is about vb not c.
thanks for your reply.
i already watch the article indicated by you, but i still don´t understand completly because the question of pointers in vb.
i am sorry if i post in the wrong place.

Yeah, but you're looking for an explanation of what the C code does, not the VB code.
Translating from C to VB.NET is a lot of work. the List class is the equivelant of std::vector.
