www.somewebsite.com/somedir/?querystring=somevalue is valid. The default page in this directory will be called and can access the query string.

That is what has been mentioned in that answer. You need to check URL re writing.

I want to call this function means this function should work only when the person presses ok on our confirm alert and if he presses cancel then this function should not work. also i dont want to call this ajax function on body unload, its causing problem. it should be called only if the person presses ok.

Your question is not clear. I am assuming, you have a JS method named confirmExit and you need to call depending upon the value user presses on a confirm box. Right?
You could do something like,
if(confirm("Your message"))
confirmExit(); I'd suggest to read this[^] before you post questions.

confirm button return true/false based on the ok or cancel.you must check what is returned accordingly you can perform the action as you want

I have provided a option in my project. When a user attempts to close the application with out logging out, we used to prompt for a alert too log out. The below said Javascript works well for this.

Hello everyone,
Any idea about how to get the content-type for a video file? I am writing an ASP.Net application which writes video binary content (hold in byte[], i.e. I cached the content into memory) back to browser client to invoke related media player, and needs to fill-in the content-type field of response header.
thanks in advance,
George

The best way to tell the content type is through the file extension. Otherwise, you need to learn enough about different file formats to examine the bytes and try to work out what they are

Cool, Christian!
If I could get the extension name for the video file, how could I know which value should I input to Content-Type response header?

George

You seem to be very confused. CP is not a site run by a group of people who are all paid to do Indian programmers jobs for them. Rather, it's a group of people from around the world, all trying to help each other. So, almost no-one who will read this will have ever seen the CP source code.
Also, as someone said, read the guide on how to ask lucid questions. And don't double post, even if it's to add a bunch of gibberish, edit your post if you want to add something.

Dear All,
I have to develop an application.
What I want to accomplish is:
If some client access my website or say webpage, my webpage must search clients PC using his/her permission if a software installed on it or not.
If not installed, the webpage will download the software from website and webpage must run that executable file.
We will require clients permission for accessing clients PC for checking software installed or not or for downloading.
When client give us permission to read and write on its HARD DISK, we have to read write his/her Hard disk silently.
I don't want Save As dialog box while downloading files.
Web page have to download software in predefined directory.
It looks like a virus thing, but I want it.
If you have any alternative ways you can tell me about that ways.
Hope you will help me.

It seems like you have no idea at all how web development works. You can't do this with ASP.NET. You can get close with a java or activeX component embedded in your page, but not with html and javascript, which is all ASP.NET generates.

Thank you for your reply.
I knew web pages have restrictions.
They cant access users HDD.
I want to know that is it possible to use dot net web controls rather than Java Applets and ActiveX components?
I want to do it in pure C#.
Do you have any idea how to accomplish it?
