I just wonder if it really matters between MSSQL and MySQL. In my opinion, it is best to keep MSSQL bundled with ASP.NET.

No, MySQL is better, because, it's FREE, dude. I mean, it's not ACTUALLY free, and SQL Server express IS, but let's not get confused by facts here....

I have no idea, I tend to prefer to pay my way and to know if I need a website up, I have a reason to expect it to stay up. There are free servers tho, have you tried to google ?

True, but what I was meaning was usually most web hosts will bundle MSSQL with their hosting packages. I do not know of many that have MySQL and ASP together. Usually most that have MySQL are LAMP setups. I've seen a few that swing both ways, not many though.

hello,
i have created an application who's platform are asp.net1.1,windows XP,Access 2002 and its working fine in my PC.
When i aploaded it on a server who's platform is .NET Framework 2.0,windows server 2003,Access 2003 and when i am browsing a page who has database connectivity it throws an error as 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine".
I tried installing latest MDAC on the server but still showing the same problem.
Thank you.

Have you tried running the site on a local machine that doesn't have 1.1, and does have 2.0, to see what happens ? I would be surprised if it worked, there were big changes in ASP.NET.

Hello,
I have made a web application in ASP.NET. I wish that When i give http://localhost/web1/default.aspx in address bar of browser, it should open in full screen mode i.e. no menubar, no addressbar etc. without opening a new window. It should full screen it self.
What should i code, please tell me.
Thanks & Regards

One more person who has no idea what ASP.NET is, or does.
You can't force the browser into full screen mode. You can't even guarantee that the browser HAS a full screen mode.

There is no direct way to open the page in as full screen as asked by you.
But you can achieve the same with little alterations.
Open http://localhost/web1/default1.aspx
write down a javascript code to open a new link window using
window.open('pagename','','parameters')
window.opener = self;
self.close();
Try using this, but there is no direct way to solve this problem

I don't see how anyone can 'help' based on this. Do you have google where you live ? Do you have access to MSDN ? The gridview has in place editing and deleting support, you just need to write a tiny bit of code. If you can't write that, then perhaps you need to choose a more simple task and do some more learning.
If, on the other hand, you bother to search and bother to try, by all means, feel encouraged to paste your code here if you have trouble getting it to work as you'd like.

Hi,
I agree to this answer. Also, you didn't provide details such as language you use (VB or C#), VS version etc.

Deleting your message is also a terrible way to try to get help. Does this mean you decided on a new career, or are you just incapable of taking some advice on how to seek (free) help ?

Hi! How I can get the value of programatically in a code-behind file and put in a label. I have declared in the web.config a statement:
profile
properties
add name="FullName" defaultValue="Anonymous" allowAnonymous="true"
properties
profile
now I want to get the value of the FullName in the code-behind file?
so the LabelName.Text = ???

AJAX has a control that does this. Progess something or other, I haven't used AJAX much, but it has the ability to do what you are wanting to do.

If it's what I think it is, it's an animated gif, and the website makes it visible while it's making an AJAX call. You would typically create stuff like that if you actually learn how to write AJAX code, but most people have no idea about AJAX and instead use the Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX library, which provides a wrapper around AJAX. I assume it would include ways to show cursors during AJAX calls.

Hi,
I'm new to AJAX and I've been going crazy trying to figure out what's stopping my controls from updating on the client side rather than just normally sending a post-back.
I have a script manager, and an UpdatePanel which contains a small form and a gridview.
Upon submitting the form, the Gridview should be updated. But it keeps on doing it on the server side.
Here's an edited part of my code:
=================================================================================
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:ScriptManager
ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" />
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxValue" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button ID="Search" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" Height="22px"
onclick="Search_Click" Text="חפש" UseSubmitBehavior="False" Width="48px" />
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="RadioButtonListDic" runat="server"
RepeatDirection="Horizontal">
<asp:ListItem Selected="True" Text="1234">1234</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Text="1234">1234</asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList>
<asp:GridView ID="GridViewResults" runat="server" CellPadding="4" ForeColor="#333333"
GridLines="None" AutoGenerateColumns="False">
</asp:GridView>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="Search" EventName="Click" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<asp:UpdateProgress ID="UpdateProgress1" runat="server" AssociatedUpdatePanelID="UpdatePanel1">
<ProgressTemplate>
Searching
</ProgressTemplate>
</asp:UpdateProgress>
</form>
=================================================================
As you can see, I've even tried to specificly make the Search button update.
Also I should mention that I'm using a Masterpage, with no ajax controls.
What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks,
JFord
