Can someone point me to info on what's involved in setting up our server to host a simple ASP.Net site? Google returns plenty of hits on where to go to host. We have a sever in house we want to use.
Thanks.

You install ASP.NET AFTER you install IIS, then you point IIS to the root folder. Simple.

We already have a server running IIS. We're developing a timecard tracking web page that we want to host on this server.
I created a web page under IIS, and pointed it to the folder with the timecard source files.
When I enter the IP:Port, I get Page Not Found. I've never done this before, so I'm probably doing something wrong.

Well, ASP.NET is definately easier to use and better designed. But, if someone knows how to navigate the hell of jsp, I have no doubt that it can also be used to write responsive websites.

Hi There,
I've created a little online calendar to help some of my coworkers keep track of shipping trucks. I have everything in place where it dynamically creates 3 tables each linked to last week, this week, and next week. I then create the datagrids and bind them to the tables. I used seperate tables just for the look because I wanted "this week" to appear larger and bolder in the middle of the other two weeks. Is there any way I can have the "this week" change the border color of the single cell depending on the current day of the week? How can you specify a certain cell in a datagrid control?
Thank you!

Actually, I think I may have just figured it out. Using my gridview, I can do something like this.
if (DateTime.Today.DayOfWeek.ToString() == "Tuesday")
{
gridview2.Rows[1].BorderColor = System.Drawing.Color.Blue;
}
So, I just need to do a check to see what day it is and then convert that to a numeric 0 - 4 for the column specification.

You are correct.You can also change the color at RowDataBound event.Test it taking todays date whether you getting wat you want or not
Cheers!!

Ah, I was close. I was able to get this to work by doing this:
gridview2.Rows[0].Cells[2].BorderColor = System.Drawing.Color.Blue;

Hi friends,
I got a runtime error while browsing my website, the error is "check_content()" but i didnt write this script, in my local machine no error is there, but after publishing i got this error

Browse your site using Firefox and Firebug, and then you will be able to break into the method in question, or you will at least be able to see what code is trying to call it. Odds are it's a method that ASP.NET generates, you could google this too. Once you know where the method comes from, you will have enough info to do some research, or to ask a question that stands a chance of being answered, because you'll have something to ask us.

Error is saying properly that that string is not given correctly with the column format of database.

Hi,
I am writing a crawler like application, I want to set the Browser property as Crawler before making the request, So that, the Web server can identify my request as coming from a Crawler.
Specifically, I want to set the Browser Propery for HttpWebRequest.

Hi, I made a query for getting a data from a local database within the project folder, and my string was: @"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=" + Environment.CurrentDirectory + @"\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf;Integrated Security=True; User Instance=True"
But, the problem is that the CurrentDirectory is pointing to "C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\Common7\\IDE" instead of the folder where is my project. What can be the issue?? Thx in advance, Laziale

You are running a web application through cassini (Visual Studio's built in Web Server).
To get paths relative to your website use MapPath[^]
|
|
|
|

Environment.CurrentDirectory, is perfectly valid for Windows and console project.
But for ASP.net projects use 'Request.PhysicalApplicationPath', in the aspx.cs file.
If you are writing the code in class file in App_Code folder, then pass this as an argument from code page.

What does it mean ?
You can add CheckBox inside gridview just simply using Adding Template Field.
