Which password it is talking about ? I believe this is the Message owner password ? Please correct me if I am wrong .
Now My Question is then what is the use of it ? That was better if this link should only visible to the message owner ?
Or is there any other tricks ?

I believe the point is that when you post, you can assign a password, and this means that people who create dummy accounts ( Member 83428348 tyoe thing, or just plain people who create a new account every day for some bizarre reason ) can use the same password and thus be able to go back and edit their posts. I don't know, as a former employee, I can click on them and edit any post I want. I only know that b/c I tried b/c of this thread, I obviously don't go and delete or edit other people's posts, no matter how annoying they are... :P

Okay, I got your point.
Few hours back ( Before this discussion ) , I thought that this is a serious issue and I have raised an defects on Suggestion/Bug Section.
Hope Will get some more clarification from Chris.

Ohh then this might be a defect. I was thinking it is something like a wiki.

Yes I too think so, otherwise forums will be a mess if everybody is allowed to modify anyone's post. And anyway it didn't accepted my password there.

Did you get a chance to add java script events i.e OnClick OR OnFocus event using Controls.attribute.add("event","call javascript function") during the Row bound event?

I'd like to make a change to an existing ASP.NET 2.0 commerce site so that certain products are flagged with a warning label. The website's product details page already uses such boolean-triggered flags for other product information, so I have copied the existing format to add a path for this additional boolean field from the .cs page back through the DAL, the stored procedure, and the database's products table.
I have the new flag's [b]asp:Image[/b] tag in place on the .aspx page, but I am not sure where to place the switching code on the .cs page so as not to create a compile or runtime error.
Here is a cut-down version of the Product Detail page's .cs file showing what I hope are the relevant parts; a copy of the full .cs page is here:
namespace MySite
{
public partial class productdetail : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image Image1;
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.Image imgNew;
public void BindTheData()
{
.... code ....
if (!errorFlg)
{
if (dataset.Tables[0].Rows.Count > 0)
{
DataRow tr = dataset.Tables[0].Rows[0];
imgProduct.ImageUrl = "images/products/" +tr["IMAGEFILE_NM"].ToString();
litName.Text = "<h3 id='detName'>" + tr["NAME"].ToString() +"</h3>";
string from_grade = tr["FROM_GRADE"].ToString();
string to_grade = tr["TO_GRADE"].ToString();
if (from_grade.Length > 0 && to_grade.Length > 0)
{
lbGrades.Text = "Grades "+ from_grade + " - " + to_grade;
}
if (from_grade == to_grade)
{
lbGrades.Text = "Grade "+ from_grade;
}
if (from_grade.Length > 0 && to_grade.Length == 0)
{
lbGrades.Text = "Grades "+ from_grade + "+";
}
if (from_grade.Length == 0 && to_grade.Length == 0)
{
lbGrades.Text = "";
}
lbContent.Text = tr["NSES_NM"].ToString();
lbDescription.Text = tr["DESCRIPTION"].ToString();
string topic_id = tr["TOPIC_CD"].ToString();
if (topic_id != "1" || topic_id != "11")
{
string awardFlg = tr["award_flg"].ToString();
string ResourceFlg = tr["resource_flg"].ToString();
if (awardFlg == "1")
{
imgAward.Visible = true;
}
if (ResourceFlg == "1")
{
imgResource.Visible = true;
}
}
.....code.....
}
I want the flags to apply to all products, not just the "if (topic_id != "1" || topic_id != "11"" ones mentioned above. I have tried to insert a copy of the code for one of the preexisting flags:
string MyNewFlg = tr["my_new_flg"].ToString();
if (MyNewFlg == "1")
{
imgMyNewFlag.Visible = true;
}
If I place the new flag code either inside or outside of the topic_id exclusion the solution builds OK, I get the following runtime error:
Column 'my_new_flg' does not belong to table Table...<br />
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Column 'my_new_flg' does not belong to table Table.
Is the code I am imitating creating some sort of dynamic table, and that is causing the screwup? Should I be using something like
if (productTable.MyNewFlagColumn > 0)
{
MyNewFlag.Visible = true;
} ?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi guys,
I have develoved a dll file for asp.net with "BusJWLRY" namespace and placed under "Bin" folder. It works fine in local computer but its throws exception as "Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'BusJWLRY' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" while running from www.
What is the main reason? plz.
Thanks,
Dibya Mani Suvedi

There are several reasons for this error:
The name of the type or namespace you are trying to use may be misspelled (including the correct case). Without the correct name the compiler is unable to find the definition for the type or namespace you have referred to in your code. This occurs most often because C# is case-sensitive and the correct casing has not been used when referring to the type. For example, Dataset ds; will generate CS0246; notice the s in Dataset is not capitalized.
If the error is for a namespace name, you may not have referenced (/reference) the assembly containing the namespace. For example, your code might contain using Accessibility;. However, if your project doesn't reference the assembly Accessibility.dll then you will get CS0246. See Add Reference Dialog Box for information on how to add a reference in the development environment.
If the error is for a type name, you may not have the proper using directive, or you have not fully qualified the name of the type. Consider the following line of code: DataSet ds;. To be able to use the DataSet type you would need to do two things. First, you need a reference to the assembly that contains the definition for the DataSet type. Second, you need a using directive for the namespace where DataSet is located. For example, because DataSet is located in the System.Data namespace, you would need the following statement at the beginning of your code: using System.Data;.
The second step is not required. However, if you omitted this step then it would require that you fully qualify the DataSet type when referring to it. Fully qualifying it means that you use the namespace and type each time you refer to it in your code. So, if you decided to skip the second step you would need to change your declaration code above to: System.Data.DataSet ds;.
If the error is for a non-type, you may have used a variable or something else when a type was expected. For example, in the is statement, if you use a Type object rather than an actual type, you will get this error.

I doubt it's any of these things, it's a deployment issue, he says it works fine for him locally.

You are right "Christian". I have just uploaded all files into server through FTP. Do you have any more idea about this issue? How can I get rid of this problem?
Thanks,

The dll is plainly not in the right place on the server, or it uses a version of .NET that's not present, or some other deployment specific issue.

Sorry, I just checked, and it's not urgent to me at all.

Well, plainly your code is very broken. Hard for us to tell you where if you won't post it. The people who say it's urgent always seem to be the ones incapable of working out that we can't fix their bugs by telekinesis.

Please tell me someone is not paying for this code ?
If you step through this in the debugger, what do you see ? As far as I can see, this is going to save with the filename you passed in. Surely if you want to rename it, you can see how to do that ?

if u want to save the file with a new name but same extension, just manipulate the filename.
u can use the Split() function

No, because what you want is not clear. I asked you what happens when you debug the code and you didn't answer. If you can't tell us what it is that this code does wrong, or how it behaves differently to what you expect, then how can we help you ?

Hi all,
How to retrieve request.querystring in hidden control.I need to do something like below.
<input type="hidden" name="FanID" value="<%=request.querystring["FanID"]%>"/>
Please Help.
Thanks a lot.
|

I believe the following will work
<input type="hidden" name="FanID" value='<%=request.querystring["FanID"]%>'/>
If not, mark it as runat=server and access from code behind file.
