Then try three tier architechture.. That problem may arise in file system.

Hello friends,

My idea is given below.

While clicking a button, mas-word should open within the browser with an existing Template file (.dot). After typing its contents and clicking save button, it will come back to the aspx page. Then I will fill other details of the file in aspx page and finally click Submit. Then the word file should be saved into SQL server table.

I should be able to open that word file later from SQL server table itself.

Can anybody give the code for this logic

My Suggestion, Never store files on SQL Server, Stored files on Hard Drive and Store the path into Table , retrieve the files name from database and open the file from corresponding path !!

That's not possible in web application. You have to provide an option for user to download the template file. Let them fill it and come back to your webpage for uploading it.

That realy depends. I felt difficulties to manage the files which are kept in database. On a shared hosting, you will have limited database space and more HDD space. So keeping files in database will increase DB size and you will run out of the limit easily.

For accessing the file, you need to query the database, and write to response with correct content type. If the file is in HDD, you only have to take the file path from DB and redirect to it.

Since files are stored in varbinary column, I think no SQL functions can be applied to it. So IMO it is pointless. Please correct me if I am wrong

hi
in my project i want to display a report to employee by month wise achivement.
if user select starting date to ending date means it has to display
month wise . if user select 1st qtr means it has to display like this.

Which Framework version are you using , in .NET 3.5 SP1, Microsoft has provides Chart Control in build with VS2008 you can use that .
You can also use some third party componets like Dundas Chart.
or write custom code using System.Drawing , Have a look[^]

There are lot more third party controls are available on net.Look for them.You can also use the the control provided by Microsoft.But it all depends on the requirement of your project,which suits you best use that one Smile | :)

can any one suggest me can i minimize loading time of crystal report viewer when i open report viewer in new page it takes 12 - 15 second to load and then execution of code stats...

on that page there is no other contorl exist except report viewer.

record displaying issue comes after the viewer gets load properly

so i thing record is not the problem. for you information only one record. Big Grin | :-D

and one more thing it takes first time more time but not after it.

Hello all
I have created a console application in c#.net to run some specific task on server.I have also create exe file so that it it will run at a given time.
When i set a task in scheduler then i have found that it dosenot allow to run exe file. It only allow file with some .bat,.cmd etc extension.
Can anybody tell me how can i create .bat or .cmd file of my console application.

Hi all

I have one procedure in sqlserver.

create procedure pro_UpdateCompanyData(@oldvalue varchar(50),@newvalue varchar(50))

now I have one gridview on page.I did Editcolumn and add edit,update and cancle button.

i write some code on gridview_Rowupdated event.

SqlDataSource1.UpdateCommandType=SqlDataSourceCommandType.StoredProcedure;

SqlDataSource1.UpdateParameters.Add(new Parameter("@oldvalue", System.TypeCode.String, ((string)Session["oldvalue"])));

SqlDataSource1.UpdateParameters.Add(new Parameter("@newvalue", System.TypeCode.String, newvalue));

SqlDataSource1.UpdateCommand ="pro_UpdateCompanyData";

"@type is not a parameter for procedure pro_UpdateCompanyData."

this error arise in this code.

I am not getting this point.pls suggest me.

Error clearly says, you are passing wrong parameters to the store procedures.
