Why?
Just iterate through the array or generic list or whatever your object is. Actually, iterating through a datatable or anything else is always more efficient then calling a control's databind method.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

Hai,,
One more thing, why is iterating through a collection is more efficient than calling a databind method, this is just for my knowledge, what happens when an object is bound to a datasource?

Both does the same. But data binding is made to support a wide audience. So there will be extra checking before data is added. When you iterate the collection, you are directly adding data to the control. But this performance difference is not noticeable.

Hi,
I am creating a demo ASP.net web page application which will be installed on client place for 30 days.
I want my ASP.net application to stop working after 30 days.
I don't want to reply on system date because user can always trick the application by changing the system date of Web server.
I guess I will not have access to user system hard disk and registry because application will be running in IIS and it doesn't have access to them.
Do you think if there is any other way I can manage trial version of my application.
Thanks in Advance

You can store a timestamp each time the application is run.
Then by comparing the previous date to the current date you will know if the clock has been turned back (You could then lock up the application).
My 2 cents...

Restart WWW services all the Application variables are lost.

I meant Application as in Web Application and not Page.Application
You can always store them somewhere on the hard disk / registry... However setting up of read /write permissions might be tricky depending on how you wish to install the application.

My suggestions for you Problem:
1. Create A webservice on your Server that should accept some arguments(IP) from client. It should check on what date the IP was registed. Difference between the Current and Date Registed. Should send TRUE/FALSE to client based on this.
2. Create a DLL for client. Before it serve any request to client, it must contact your Service, get the Status and proceed.
3. If expiry date is over, stop the DLL from execution.

Hello
I am using ASP.NET to develope a web site.can any body plz tell me how to create a hit counter for my web site.
Easy method is to keep the count in a Application variable and increment it upon each request.
at what level i have to do the increament.can i do it at "PAGE_LOAD" level.
You can do it in the session_start event in global.asax . Page_load will be fired for all postbacks and you will get massive count.

thanx for the response it is working

No!.
You need to know about Application_start() / Session_Start() on Global.asax file.
Check This From Navaneeth's Article[^]
