.Net framework is not part of any windows OS.Its independent framework can be installed on any MS windows OS.There might be some compatiblity issues from the older versions but not directly related to OS.
Cheers!!

Wrong. The framework 2.0 is incorporated into Vista and Server 2008 and above. Windows7 also has 3.5 I believe

Slightly wrong still, Vista has .NET 3.0 installed because it is part of the Windows Presentation Foundation which was a fundamental aspect of Vista's marketing.

.NET framework comes preinstalled with Vista.
The .NET framework is a runtime library, it's not part of the OS itself, and neither the OS or any of it's cruical applications does depend on it. Some accessories or games that comes with the OS might depend on it.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

Are you trying to irritate people by spamming the forums with the same question asked repeatedly? It is considered rude you know.

What existing file? And replace it with what?

Hi,
I suggest you use File.Move to rename the existing file.
PS: great subject line, it really warns us for the message content.

Hi,
My Web Service application make a EventLog entry with ID 10016 in case I not give the Network Service DCOM Lunch Permissions for netman.
This is ok I can set the permissions by using dcomcnfg. But I do not want to do this for all installations by hand. So is there any way to set this permission programmatically.
Thanks

Hello,
I have an Application Where in The Code Reads from a File present in Application Directory.
Now if the file is not present, then the code displays the message that File Not Found along with the Full File Path.
This is what i don't want, I need only to display File Not Found and not the file path.
Could anyone please tell me how can i check what kind of Exception has occured in the catch block and display my own messages as per the exception.
Hope I have explained my problem properly,
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Experts,
I am making an vb.net application in vs2005. I run a ppt( quize ) (which is a VBA application again,) from a button click using process.
Now my problem is to link/share the vb.net variable with the variable which i am using in VBA coding(ie total score of quize). so that I can write the score for the particular user who has logged in in my application and has ran the powerpoint(VBA).
[ score is a vriable in VBA, username is the variable present in vb.net application ]
Thanks in advance

Don't post the same thing in multiple forums. Pick the right forum and stick to it.
also "urgent" will work against you.

I am trying to create a program to copy a large amount of files from 1 hard drive to another. I do not need network copy capabilities. I was trying to figure out which program will transfer files faster. I am not an expert at programming, but I am capable of creating a program in either language. If anyone know of a better language for this purpose, I am open to suggestions. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Since they are both .net languages speed isn't an issue, they will each produce the same il (or should). If speed is what you want then you'll need to use unmanaged C++.

I can't update the content of the field called "VALUE". Is there any work around to get "1" into that field?
Dim conn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=D:\;Extended Properties=dBASE IV;")
Dim adapter As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Test.dbf", conn)
Dim recordsAffected As Integer = 0
conn.Open()
Dim sql As String = "UPDATE Test.dbf SET Value = '1' WHERE Keyword = 'Over_here'"
Dim da As OleDb.OleDbCommand = New OleDb.OleDbCommand(sql, conn)
recordsAffected = da.ExecuteNonQuery()
conn.Close()

'value' is a keyword in t-sql which is what the problem probably is. You could wrap the word in square brackets '[value]' which might solve the problem - I haven't got time to try it right at the moment though...
It definitely isn't definatley
