Hello,
I am developing a web based application in ASP.NET using VB. I have to put a datagrid on the web page which will be populated by oracle table, which should have the feature of row selection and drop-down feature by mouse clicking, so that user can re-arrange the table data as per his need.
In this context i have searched in google a lot and got following links:
http://www.justskins.com/forums/drag-drop-in-same-datagrid-16484.html
http://blog.flexexamples.com/2007/09/19/dragging-rows-between-two-different-flex-datagrid-controls/
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winforms/thread/305c235e-761d-4f2c-83ba-23d8795a7b16
but i am not able to get the required datagrid. I mean where to put the code of XML and how it works(link 1 and link2) and error in "MouseEventArgs" (link 3).
So please tell me if you have such feature in datagrid, how to achive it.
Thanks and Regards

This will be a ton of javascript, it looks like you found some examples online, so choose one, stick with it, and ask the authors for help, is my advice.

Christian Graus,
Thanks for your reply. If you please have the required javascript, please post it or please help me how to implement the said code. I am newbie in ASP.NET. I suppose that this forum is more active so, any user will help me fast than others and i do'nt know how to ask the authors of the code please.

Then, it is *insane* for you to attempt this. It requires a deep knowledge of how ASP.NET works, if you want to hack it to this degree. Tell your client that you can't do the job.

I am newbie and it is insane for me but i hope it is not that much tough for neither you nor for any other user of the forum. Please guide me how to implement the code. I am doing it for just knowledge not for client job like that please.

OK, in that case, I suggest you choose something more sensible. You won't learn anything from us telling you want to do when the task is that complex compared to your experience.

Well, IMO, what you are asking is really bigger than explaining in a forum post. You said you have got enough links from google. Why don't you use those code and try your luck and come back with specific questions.

I am trying to implement the code provided at this link:
http://www.danielsoper.com/programming/DataGridViewDragDropRowsColumns.aspx
I have populated the datagrid from oracle table; but it is returning error when i close/end the application. "No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. The source code cannot be displayed" and then another message box appears which title is "LoaderLock was detected".
Please try at your end and let me know to correct the error.

Girish

You got your answer in the C# forum. Do you not understand ASP.NET, or do you just not understand C# ?

Can any one tell while using panel i want to set its position like in center,or left etc. how can i do it???
Thanks in advance.....

Use Tables, place Panels inside the table. Create Table rows as per requirements and place your controls inside tables.

Use css. For centering, you set the left and right margin to auto:
style="margin: 0 auto"
For left and right, you use floating:
style="float: left"
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

I didn't get your question. From where you are uploading it. its from main screen or from popup. which screen you want to lock.

Which means that you haven't read the link provided by me. That page explains how to do this using the ASP.NET AJAX extensions.
|
|
|
|
|
Use Ajax Control (ConfirmButtonExtender, ModalPopupExtender) and Panel
|
|
|

|
1) I am using Forms Authentication. but the page is not redirect to desired
login page after session time out.
wen.config file
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="aspx" timeout="1" loginurl="SessionExpired.aspx">
2)and When I debug the application
. Session_end is called. in the Session_End
method i write code to redirect to the LoginPage but it is still not
redirecting.
void Session_End(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Redirect("SessionExpired.aspx");
}
its threws an exception...
'((System.Web.HttpApplication)(this)).Response' threw an exception of type 'System.Web.HttpException'
in both the cases im not able to redirect to "SessionExpired.aspx"

First thing to remember always is that web applications are stateless, despite what the ASP.NET framework has set up for you to kid you on that it is stateful. This means that ASP.NET is using a number of "parlour tricks" to allow you to develop stateful web applications while hiding the real architecture of web applications. Sometimes the "parlour tricks" don't work the way you expect simply because there is no real substance as there would be in a real stateful architecture (e.g. WinForms)
1. When you say it is not redirecting to the log in page after the session time out, are you sitting waiting at your browser expecting after one minute for it to automatically update your page? That isn't going to happen because it is up to the client to do that, but all your code is at the server.
You have two choices that I can think of off the top of my head: (1) Add some javascript that peforms the redirection for you, or (2) use a meta refresh[^] to do it.
2. The Session_End event handler is not called in response to a user request, therefore, without the request there can be no response. The session is just another of ASP.NET "parlour tricks" to give you state information to make it appear that you are developing against a stateful architecture.
