If we only showed some of the versions then that would defeat the purpose. The purpose I initially added it for was to handle the issue with collaborative editing, and with editing by our editors. If an article is broken then we want to be able to pinpoint what happemed, by whom, and then rollback to the previous best, not the best give or take 7 days.
We will add paging to the list, though.

Hmmmm. So if an article has only one author, what's the point of showing the version number? As it is right now, all of my articles show "Version: 1" in the header, which is confusing because I have been doing versioning all along, and so the article body says something like "Version 1.3 - 2008 January 19".
I think you should either 1) allow authors to specify starting version number; or 2) don't display version in header for single-author articles.

That would be a classic > 0 / > 1 bug.
I used to have the initial version set as 0, then thought 'that's dumb' so made it 1. But I forgot to update the code.
Fixed in next release (tomorrow or the next day or this coming weekend. Depending on how other items in the pipeline are coming)

Hi there,
Sounds strange I know. But after after years ( my sixth ) and severals version of .net I've got a lot of bookmarks. I decided to start over from scratch and would like to delete all of my bookmarks. Now this looks like a never ending story and pane in the arse to delete each and every bookmark by its Delete link.
Do I miss something or do I just miss a "Clear all" function?

Added to the TODO list. Thanks!

Chris sir, can you please provide some more emoticons on message forum.
It would be great if you add those thumbs up and thumbs down icon , that are already with in Voting control
|
|
|
|
|
I'd help you but adding more emoticons is a larger task than you would think. How about I meet you halfway: I'll add one of them. Which would you like? The thumbs up or the thumbs down?
cheers,

Well in some cultures the thumbs up is an obscene gesture, so I'd say thumbs down is probably safer.

I think it would be very cool if I could type 10 miles and the cp forum software would automatically enter it as 10 miles (16.09 KM) or -10c and it would post as -10c (14f).
I know it seems frivolous but given the global nature of this site and the number of times people post about the weather or the miles per gallon of their car or the price of gas or any number of things I think it would be very cool.
Perhaps the core of it could be an engine that was created as part of a contest here for parsing text and reliably finding measurements and converting them.

For anyone interested in trying to implement this, don't forget that US/UK fluid measures aren't the same despite the names. The US gallon is the wine gallon, while the UK uses a slightly modified version of the ale gallon (tweaked to give water a density of 10lb/gal). Both gallons were in use at the time of US independence. I've never found anything on why the US settled on the wine gallon.

Only if you're aware of it in advance. Given the degree of mutual misunderstanding that comes up every time MPG numbers for US/UK cars are discussed it's not widely known here, and before CP I'd never even heard of it.

Well that's a bit of an obscure case I'm thinking more about temperatures and other basic units of measurement, but in any case it would certainly alleviate a little misunderstanding don't you think?

That's aquote from somewhere. Wish I could remember where.

No thanks. I want my messages to appear as I entered them, and I want to be sure what I am reading is what the author has written.

It shouldn't be automatic. We should have 2 command buttons (like the formatting buttons that are already there) that'd do this C to F and Km to Miles conversion (and their reverse equivalents). Those 2 are the most common here.

Yuck from a UI design perspective.
If people really can't stand to have their post modified, how about it just converts at display instead and users can turn it on or off as a feature?

IMO an automated footnote providing converted equivalent values and units would probably be acceptable even to people that really can't stand to have their post modified, provided the author of the footnote takes full credit for it
