Hi there.
I am newbie so please bear with me..
I found a universal remote control application for PDA on this site itself.
The link to the application in C# is below
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/miscctrl/UniversalRemoteControlPDA.aspx[^]
I tried posting comments on the application page but since no one replied for over a month i tried putting my questions here.
1: Is this a "real" universal remote control for all ir devices or just for Phillips ir devices?.
2: How do i run this application? I downloaded the source code and "deployed the solution" using pocket pc 2003 emulator on visual studio 2005 but could not find the application on the emulator....
Please help...
Thanks in advance

I've used remote control applications on PocketPCs before and in general if I could not find my device in the list of supported devices I had to get the codes for the remote myself. This was easily done because the frequencies and the information on the pulse sequences necessary were easily found online at the time.
Presently I don't know how popular such applications are since IR ports are rarely found in today's Windows Mobile devices since Bluetooth is present for that functionality. I've seen some solutions where one connects and IR emmiter to an audio out on their device but since so few devices have standard audio out ports this can be a little difficult with modern devices. So beyond what I remember I can't really tell you to much more. Any devices I had that contained IR ports are boxed and in storage.

This is a common mistake among C programmers who start coding in a new environment with a new compiler such as .NET 1.1 or .NET 2.0. You get the error because the iostream.h file is no longer used with these compilers, instead use the ISO compliant file iostream:

I am developing an application for Win mobile 6.0 in visual studio 2008
under smart device. This application involves reading and writing the
data from a table in SQL server 2005 to a C# smart device form.I cannot
read and write the data to the table made in SQL server 2005 to c#
form. Plz someone help me with the steps/C# code to be followed to
achieve this. Also help me with the steps for database connectivity.
My application involves analysis of data in form of bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs etc.
What will be the exact technique needed for displaying the data in form of graphs? How the graphs can be plotted in C# smart device form? Can someone help me with the code by taking a sample example?
Will be very grateful to one who helps me with this.
Thanks in advance.

you have to use of connection string in other way
|
|
|
|
|
For Database Connectivity:-
Just create webservice(inplant the SQL Connecting string) and deploy near your SQL Server and in your windows mobile aplication add a web refrence and point the webservice URL. Write all the methods like SQLConnection open and clos blah blah all the functions you want.
sorry on the graph part, i suggest you to try http://www.fusioncharts.com/[^] but again iam not sure do they provide graph for window mobile, just have a look around

You might want to take a look at this library: http://www.carlosag.net/Tools/ExcelXmlWriter/[^]. I haven't tried it on a mobile device yet, but it works much faster and doesn't require Excel to be present on the smart device to work. However only Excel 2003 or later will open the file because it is in the Excel XML format, not the binary format. I would be really interested to know if it works for you.

I have an existing web application that I am modifying for mobile devices and need a list of the different browser types and what phone that belong to. I am looking to gather a group of emulators for testing. Any helpful articles that will get me started would also be appreciated.

Keep in mind that there exists web browsers that may exists on more than one operating system such as Opera. Streaming browser (such as skyfire) will be indistinguisable from desktop browsers to your application.

Hi all.
To make my application only working on some specified devices, I used this approach:
When program start, first of all retrive (with the KernelIoControl method) the Device ID of device in which it run, and then compare it with some autorized Device ID strings contained in the application.
All works correctly, but I ask to my-self if this is a sufficentely safe way.
I tried to search in the executable file the same Device ID strings I written in the development (VB) time, and them are not been found.
Are these strings encripted?
Another question:
As I read that often several device returns the same device ID, or the same device returns different Device ID (and/or different string-lenght)depending on which method is used to retrive it, where I can read an exaustive article related with above question?
Thanks for help

I don't know why you are getting that error, but others may be able to help you better if they know that CameraCapturedll.dll came from Marcus Perryman[^] of Microsoft. That being said you may want to post this question on the page from which you originally downloaded the code since it appears that he does respond to questions on the code.

Dumpbin is a utility to help you find out what is on the inside of dlls and libs and exes. You could also try using it on other stuff, just to see what happens (its fun!). dumpbin reference[^]
Anyway, I suspect that it has something to do with the way that you are importing the dll into your project or some problem in your build environment. You can use dumpbin to confirm that init exists in your dll (just for sanity's sake).

Seems like direct copies into runtime directories are the best bet.
