Im trying to look visually at a folder structure that has been designed within SQL Databases and Table's but am having problems working out how to organise the data to make it work with a 'TreeView' within VB.NET 2005.
Basically, i have 6 Databases on one SQL server. Within Each Database is a table Called dbo.Folders
The Database contains the comumbs, whereby Every folder is given a Folder ID (not unique across the wole SQL server, only across the Database) It also Tells you what its parent folder is, an its Folder Name.
i.e.
-Folder 1
|-Folder 1-1
| |-Folder 1-1-1
|-Folder 1-2
|-Folder 1-3
| |-Folder 1-3-1
| |-Folder 1-3-2
|-Folder 1-4
Folder ID Parent ID Folder Name
1 -1 Folder 1
2 1 Folder 1-1
3 2 Folder 1-1-1
4 1 Folder 1-2
5 1 Folder 1-3
6 5 Folder 1-3-1
7 5 Folder 1-3-2
8 1 Folder 1-4
Any thoughts on how i might achieve this? as i said, im not sure on weather to have all the databases shown on one treeview, or have a Tab or something to select the Database.

The easiest way to do this on VB side is to create a little method that adds all folders at the same level and call it recursively for each folder added to add child folders.
If you want you can add each database as a root node and start recursion from there.

i am trying to create an app that will be able to send an sms not using an sms modem.
this app must also have an option for the senders cell no.

Anoop learns the googlemachine![^] (only 1.8 million hits, they should really stop hiding all that information in google)
Just reread your post. You want to be able to spoof the sender's number? Don't think to much help will be given on that one, AFAIK this one isn't all to possible. Might be a good start here?[^]

Hi Anoop ,
What i understood from your post is that , you want to send a SMS from a particular number. The solution i can think of is , sending the SMS Using a GSM Modem (or a phone with GSM Modem , most of the phone available in market today have it built in , i think your phone would have it built in, just need to connect your phone to your computer, or alternatively you can buy a GSM modem , which would cost you 100$ (Rs.4000) at max.) , When you use a GSM Modem or a Phone connected to you Comm port(serial or USB Port , in some case bluetooth port) , your number would be displayed to the recipient.Using this method you don't require a gateway or internet connection
There is lot of help available on net for this topic
Following are few links to get you started .
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/SMS.aspx?fid=457949&fr=26#xx0xx[^]
Key words to Google Would be
1) Sending SMS using GSM Modem
2) Sending SMS using AT Command Set.
I am sure that there would be free library available on the net , you just need to find it out.
Let me know if you need more information.

No 'Try' in VB6 (I know this is .NET section sorry)
Not only do you get 60 points, but you have my full permission to insult my stupidity.
I can't believe I didn't see I'd written "on err" instead of "on error"...
Sometimes if you look at something too hard and too long you can't see the obvious, and all it takes is a fresh pair of eyes.

Have you ever programmed anything on the Apple ][ series of machines? Those use ONERR.

I have issue in vb.net regarding font translation. I just want to know is it possible or not ex(When i type first two letter in tamil then next two letter in english.I want to know because i have one field in database that's tamil word(it should display in tamil.) or else is there any English to tamil transaction tool. I want to know how can i implement translation tool in vb.net.
If any one knows Kindly do the needful.

No translation tool exists, obviously. Writing the code for one is trivial. Entering all those words to be translated, is not, obviously. Have you tried babelfish.yahoo.com if you just have a few words to translate ?

hi all
im new here and i need help
im currently doing my final year school project using software WiT 8.1
and i need to design an interface using Visual Basic.
i need to display the application done by WiT 8.1 on VB interface.
such as display it on the picturebox.
but i couldnt find solution for it.
the one i did so far is that it will have a pop-up window coming out instead of embedded inside the picturebox.
anyone here can help?
the deadline is end of this week.
thanks a lot.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you talking about launching an application called "WiT" and hosting it's window inside your form??
|
|
|
|
|
yes.
i need to call out/launch the WIT application in my VB interface.
yes .how to put it in the form?
|
|
|
|
|
Well, you need to launch the external application, using the Process class, then you call it's WaitForInputIdle method so the application has time to start up and show it's main window, then you get it's MainWindowHandle property and pass that to a call to the Win32 API function SetParent[^], along with the window handle of the Panel control you want to host this.
Warning: There may be issues with your hosted application not rendering properly. You also do not have total control over the hosted app, for example, you don't get to control the app's dialog windows and position them where you want.

hi dave thanks for ur suggestions
i tried already
but as what you said i didnt get to control the application dialog window and position them where i want.
it cant just be displayed in my picturebox.haiz.
thanks for your help anyway.

That's the only option you have. If it doesn't work the way you want, the only alterniative you have is to write your own version of the app using an SDK or COM-based library provided by the manufacturer of the app, if one is even available.
