I think you can implement template field for those columns ,from where you want the data to be retrieved just like you are using the checkboxes and getting it by using row.findcontrol ,same try for this template field also.

If you want to show a jacascript alert then use the following code.
Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(),"key","<script>alert('Message')</script>");

I am new to this. I built a web site using Scott Mitchell's example, and it works great. However, I want to move the business logic and the Data Access logic to a different machine. What must I do to achieve this?
Thanks,
Jay

You know you want that on different machines but you don't know what it takes and therefore what it means for that to execute on different machines. So how do you know you want it, if you don't know what it is?

I have written an application bases on Scott Mitchell's Data Access Tutorial. I created the DAL (Data Access Layer) and the BLL (Business Logic Layer) but they reside on the same machine as the Presentation layer. I would like to seperate them and put my data on a machine that is behind a firewall. Do you know how to do this?
Thanks,

The machines would have to talk to each other by being on the same network, or they would need to use a webservice to communicate with each other. I would personally put all the code on one machine, and perhaps put the DB on a different machine on the same network.

you have to built a classes for database management and its operation and separate
it with business logic.
for example built a general function for passing procedure in database operation class
and pass procedure from business logic class.

1 - tell your client you're not up for the job
2 - return their deposit, and accept the black mark on your rentacoder record
3 - buy a book and read it
4 - try to learn the basics before you jump off the deep end.
There's a reason that real programmers get paid a lot. It's that you can't learn how to do it in five minutes, or learn how to do commercial work by asking a question on a forum.

Hi Graus,
I believe you need to go the basics of answering the questions before you reply anyone this is not the way you reply to a question on a forum.
I can help you in learning the basics of speaking,reply me if you need it.If you don't know the answer you can shut up and.....

You are an ignorant clown. I know how to answer questions, you just need to show signs of asking them in a way that doesn't imply you're incompetent and hoping for someone to earn your paycheck for you,

Hi
I am new in develoment can please any one help.
I have had menu id "Menu3" in Menu.ascx file and i have .aspx pages. Menu3 has 4 options and every option has its own sub options Here is main structure of Menu3
Report Data Operation Logout
I have two categories of users Admins and non Admins. I don't want to show "Operation" to non-admins. I need to decide at login time.I had saved admin flag in Session (user is admin or not)
but how can i disable "operation" if flag is false in .aspx page_load event.
I already include Menu.ascx in aspx pages.
I am using VS2008.
thanks

Im sorry, but your question is no more or less urgent than anyone else's. Its generally considered rude to expect your question to be answered "Urgently".
As for your question, the answer really depends on how you identify Admins/Non-Admins in your application. For example, in my application I use the built-in ASP.NET role-based security, and so In a control, I could do something like
if(!Page.User.IsInRole("Administrators"))
{
}
|
|
|
|
|
I believe that something like this would help you:
In the menu.ascs file's Load Event the following code would work to disable that menu item
if (Session["IsAdmin"] == false)
{
this.Menu1.Items[2].Enabled = false;
}
This is the way that I came up with to accomplish this task. You could also generate the menu at runtime and if the user is an not an admin just don't create the Operation menu.

Someone who is 'new to development' should not be written commercial code and sure as hell should not be writing permissions systems. The people paying you a pittance are going to get exactly the system they deserve, but when reality sets in, you will be out of a job unless you do some work to build a basic skillset.
