More of a C# man myself, but the classes you'll be interested in are HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse. Create the former, set its verb to POST, and write your xml to the stream.
I think its in the System.Net assembly.

Last November, I was trying to do a multi client program for a Question And Answer game, the game is like this:
1. The judge (ok, this is a real people) ask a question, and then on his Master Terminal (computer-server), he click "start answer"
2. Then the participants (real people) on their own computer, can click "answer", if they want to answer that question.
3. Master terminal will show all intended participants, and the fastest one will "Flash" on both Master terminal screen and the Client screen.
4. Master terminal can also set the score and the score will be shown on (participants)client screens.
I tried to implement this with remoting at that time. But I found a couple of problems when I am implementing that. First, what I have in my mind is for remoting, the application code should not realize that they are calling remote objects or local objects, this should be done by the transparent proxy objects. It is definitely achievable without any problem when creating remote objects, calling methods of that particular objects, but when it comes to events and delegates, it is a different story. I have to make the client expose to another port to listen the event fired from remote objects, and moreover, another dummy object have to be declared in-between the remote object and the client application. (see the method shown here: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/IP/RemotingEvent.aspx?msg=2821954[^])
The use of intermediate object totally breaks the beauty of transparent proxy, and make the code became messy.
So, my question here is, in doing such project, am I using the wrong technology? Should I use WCF or the old school TCP Port listener?

Remote events using .NET Remoting were not good.
Well, you can use either, but my preference would be WCF. You may want to start with reading this[^] before you start digging into various example strewn over the Web.

Hi,
are you saying nothing useful can be found here[^]?
Luc Pattyn [Forum Guidelines] [My Articles]
- before you ask a question here, search CodeProject, then Google
- the quality and detail of your question reflects on the effectiveness of the help you are likely to get
- use the code block button (PRE tags) to preserve formatting when showing multi-line code snippets

Right, I know there is no CLR difference between .NET 3.5 and .NET 2.0. Please understand the question I asked for.
I need difference between them performance wise, scalability wise and benifits business wise? I know the new features in .NET 3.5.
Thanks in advance.

idhiCodeProject wrote: difference between them performance wise
You want to know if the framework became faster? It didn't, since they didn't change anything in the base, they just extended it. String-concatenations are still slow if you don't use a StringBuilder.
idhiCodeProject wrote: scalability wise
No differences that I'm aware of, as this isn't dictated by the framework AFAIK.
idhiCodeProject wrote: benifits business wise
.NET 3.5 gives you a shorter development cycle under some circumstances, but you'll have to be sure that your users have the runtime for the framework.
The Wikipedia[^] hosts an article that highlights all changes to the framework, you could use it as a base to deduce the answers to your questions.
If you don't want to post the article here, can I get a copy through email?

If it's for a manager who needs to decide between the frameworks, be sure to check and highlight;
- what the most common type of framework for your users is
- the competence-level of the available developers for each framework
- whether you'll need to support any platform beyond Windows'

Hi
I am new in develoment can please any one help.
I have had menu id "Menu3" in Menu.ascx file and i have .aspx pages. Menu3 has 4 options and every option has its own sub options Here is main structure of Menu3
Report Data Operation Logout
I have two categories of users Admins and non Admins. I don't want to show "Operation" to non-admins. I need to decide at login time.I had saved admin flag in Session (user is admin or not)
but how can i disable "operation" if flag is false in .aspx page_load event.
I already include Menu.ascx in aspx pages.
I am using VS2008.
thanks

Take a look at using the Membership and Role providers with .NET. Set up a sitemap to control the menu that appears, and attach the Admin role to the ones you want only the Admin users to see. This[^] should help.
By the way, please ask questions about ASP.NET in the ASP.NET forum in future.

You can do it inside the Page_Load event in Menu.ascx webcontrol. Just check the Session and disable the option.

I am currently writing a custom toolbox window for Visual Studio 2008, using the SDK. When the user drags from the list, I start a drag drop operation using ToolboxItem as the drag data.
ToolboxItem tbi = new ToolboxItem(myControlType);
IToolboxService serviceToolBox = (IToolboxService)GetService( typeof(IToolboxService));
object tbiSerialized = serviceToolBox.SerializeToolboxItem(tbi);
this.DoDragDrop(tbiSerialized, DragDropEffects.Copy);
When they drop the ToolBoxItem, I use the 'ToolboxItem.ComponentsCreated' event to write some extra setup code on the control
void dropToolBoxItem_ComponentsCreated(object sender, ToolboxComponentsCreatedEventArgs e)
{
// write custom control config code here
}
However, I'm finding that I sometimes want control over the ToolboxItem control type, based on UI conditions during the drag. For example, I may want to create a different control on the designer if the user holds down the shift key. Sometimes I want to block the drop completely. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to change the ToolboxItem after I start the drag. It seems like the 'ToolboxItem.ComponentsCreating' event was meant for this kind of intervention, but I can't change the control type when the 'ToolboxItem.ComponentType' property is read only.
I've tried a few hacks (like deleting the control after drop and re-creating the new control type), but none of it has worked out very well. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Aaron

Hi. Subject pretty much says it all.
My C# application spends a lot of time consuming data from a web service, and I want to provide a mechanism which allows me
to count the total number of bytes entering and leaving the application over time.
Have tried a few google searches, but they're yet to turn up anything useful.
