Thanks for the answer.
I tried the sharing thing, but unfortunately it doesn't work. If I set up the network bridge I lose the internet connection to my PC

I also tried installing nat32, but no good. I guess I'll just have to admit defeat and buy a wifi router

Well, that's the cleanest approach. And it might save some energy.
You can even get a simple "NAS" with those routers. (Usually not really a NAS, but shared access to some flash memory, builtin or plugged in via USB).
Cheers,
Sebastian

I've used the ICS approach in the past, but the performance was terrible. It's much cleaner and more reliable to use a WiFi access point and have all your clients connect directly to it.

It's because your harddrive is broken.
And it seems that your keyboard is broken too.

Its because i've enabled System restore option for C Drive .Now its fine .

I've just put a system live today and I'm having issues connecting to SQL 2005 from w2k.
SQL 2005 (64 bit with latest service pack) is on windows 2008, 64 bit server.
Everything was tested before going live and worked fine. The only difference now is that there is a firewall between the systems.
From the w2k box, I cannot connect to SQL 2005 via SSMS. Interestingly, there is also a problem actually using the website from the same computer. When submitting a form, the system just hangs. This happens both on IE and firefox, so I'm guessing its not a browser issue.
Error message from SSMS is tcp error 0, the specified network is no longer available. SQL error : 64.
Google has not thrown up any ideas so far (and I've been looking for about 6 hours now)
I can access the website from XP laptop and also from W2k3 server. I have tried installing SQL 2005 on laptop, but I had 2008 trial on it some months ago and it seems some remnants of that are causing the install to fail, but thats another story....
Also of note, I CAN connect to the SQL 2005 box from w2k using Sql 2000 query analyser OK and if I change the connection string on dev system on w2k box to the live SQL server, it connects fine.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on workarounds / fixes

Dear All,

I tried google but couldnt reach to a good result ??
Any help?? Can any one guide me to some tutroials??
Best regards in advance.

Download the BIOS Firmware upgrade from Dell's site and run it. Most of these will ask you to insert a diskette to create a boot floppy. Boot the machine on that disk and follow the prompts.
Seriously, this question would be better answered by Dell than us.

No.
You can only hope the CPU socket isn't damaged and buy a new CPU.

If the pins are merely bent you can straiten them with a mechanical pencil. If they've snapped the CPU is ruined. If the busted pins are stuck in the socket so is the mobo.

I think so u can't do anything.

you can pull up a datasheet and see if the broken pins are NC (no connect) or GND. If they're both NC just put your CPU back in it should work. If they're ground put it back in anyway, good chance it may work it can't be anymore broken.

I meant the physical mouse.

Here are some simple experiments for you:
1. try with a different mouse; if that works fine, your original mouse switch has worn out.
2. if you don't have a spare mouse: try with opposite setting for lefthand/righthand; if the problem
sticks with the left button (physically left) then the mouse switch has worn out

Hi ,
This is a new and strange situation.. .I need correct direction if possible.
I have a KIOSK(Win XPe loaded on it)
To the KIOSK , there are attached peripheral devices like
1) Credit Card Reader
2) Cash Acceptor
3) Receipt Printer
My Task... I need to read the information from the peripheral device and expose the information in the best form to the KIOSK application
For example
1) The application on the KIOSK will have a provision to tell the customer , how much cash is input from the cash acceptor
2) Building the application is not my task.
3) I need to read the Cash Acceptor's input and provide the information to the application on the KIOSK
There is much more I have to do.. But what I provided is just the tip of the iceberg.
Questions + Concerns + Situation
1) I dont have any communication from my Development PC to the KIOSK Machine, Except for remote Login
I dont know how to use the XPe OS
What is the best solution for the situation I provided above, Do I need to build a Windows Service, Web Service... I dont Know.. any guidance on this?
I know that a previous developer 2 years ago built a similar solution on JavaPOS ... (Now I dont know anything what he did or where the solution is)
Since I heard the term JavaPOS from my manager , I started digging into WinPOS ... .NET POS.
What is this .NETPOS, What do I do with it?
How do I program a solution for XPe based machine
How do kick start this project in a very planned and succesfull manner?
The hardware info of this KIOSK machine is HP Compaq t5710 XPe 1.2GHz
Its a total confusion... Someone please guide me in the correct direction , and give me as many resources as you can
Thank You
Happy Programming!
Regards,
ctrlnick !

Hi,
Is your KIOSK is built upon XPe or WEPOS?
probably WEPOS, WEPOS is a sub set of XPe with aditional POS SDK and a collection of peripheral drivers like MSR, Barcode Scanner, CreditCard reader etc..
As per my understanding the code written on X86 machine loaded with XP
could run on XPe machine as well, but if your application is a pure POS one, that means built using POS SDK you must use APIs from the SDK to get the work done. Unlike normal windows application a POS application gets messages or events through POS layer only. I hope you can downlad a copy of POS SDK from Microsoft with free of cost and link the same with VS for development.
Check the link below for POS SDK

I have some code reading and writing to a USB Windows CE device (it's actually using the ActiveSync driver). On Windows XP I use CreateFile to open the port and ReadFile and WriteFile to do IO - this works fine. On Vista I can open the port but ReadFile and WriteFile always return this invalid function error (error code 1). Any ideas?
