I want to restrict the user to login with the same username/password in
more than one system in the same ipaddress. Can anyone give me an idea.
Thanks

Store in your DB if they are logged in. Of course, you need a timeout mechanism to do this.

Hi,
Could you please tell me how to set the timeout mechanism.
Thanks

Put a column in your database, where you store that a user is logged in, with the date and time of their last activity. If a certain amount of time has elapsed since that time and the time they try to log in again, allow it.

hi,
i have a procedure getendbalance, i am passing list of retailerid's and date as input ,i have to collect endbalance as output and show it in gridview.
what i have tried is,
int Retailer = Convert.ToInt32(dsRet.Tables[0].Rows[0]["retailer_id"].ToString());
OdbcCommand cmdEndBal = new OdbcCommand("{call getendbalance(" + Retailer + ",'13-Jun-2009',@v_End_Balance OUT)}", Conn);
cmdEndBal.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
try
{
Conn.Open();
cmdEndBal.Parameters.Add("@param_Retailer_ID", OdbcType.Numeric,22);
cmdEndBal.Parameters[0].Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
cmdEndBal.Parameters[0].Value = Retailer;
cmdEndBal.Parameters.Add("@param_Date", OdbcType.NVarChar);
cmdEndBal.Parameters[1].Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
cmdEndBal.Parameters[1].Value = "13-Jun-2009";
cmdEndBal.Parameters.Add("@v_End_Balance", OdbcType.Numeric);
cmdEndBal.Parameters[2].Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
cmdEndBal.ExecuteNonQuery();
double RetVal = (double)(cmdEndBal.Parameters["@v_End_Balance"].Value);
}
catch
{
}
finally
{
Conn.Close();
}

Your code is broken.
Praneeth Babu K wrote: call getendbalance(" + Retailer + ",'13-Jun-2009',@v_End_Balance OUT)
You are passing parameters, so why adding it here? You just need the procedure name here.

|
|
|

i will correct that one,
how to get the out put parameter in varaible or array,
double RetVal = (double)(cmdEndBal.Parameters["@v_End_Balance"].Value);
is this the the write way.

I have a webpage with an asp:menu. I have menuItems in the menu. What I want to do is call a javascript function when the menuItem is selected but do not see an onselected or any selection event. Is there a way for me to just call a javascript function and not navigate to an url when the item is selected?
Thanks,
Steve

I guess you need to look at the HTML that is generated, but I'd imagine if you make your 'url' javascript:myfunction()', that would work.

When I add NavigateURL="javascript:function()" it only shows a page with the javascript source code? Note: this is an asp:menu.

O.K. I got it working!

What is the best way by which to display summary information for my project on my webform? I need to display it as follows and cannot use a datagrid.
Column Column
Row: Name Name
Row: ID ID
Row: Size Size
With a column for each returned value from the database. There is no restriction to the number of "segments" returned, so I need to this to work if there is one segment or 5. I have a SQL query that accesses the information that I read from. I thought about using a repeater control, but I'm not sure how to do this.

Looks like you are trying to display tabular data. DataGrid/GridView is best for tabular data.

Just have the repeater generate a table, and insert the named row, assuming that's what you need. Either way, all these controls create tables, and the datagrid will do it just fine, but you can do what it does easily with a repeater.
By 'segments' do you mean columns ? A gridview is best for this, as it can just autogeneratecolumns for you.

I ended up using a datalist instead of a repeater and was able to solve this issue.
Thanks for your help!

Hello all,
I have been researching this for the last 3 days with no resolution.
I have an autocomplete extender in a detailsview. The contextKey is set when the detailsview goes to edit mode, but not when it goes to insert mode. So the Web Service will not call the Web Method to execute. I can't figure out how to get it to work.
Can anyone assist?

I know your question was raised over a year ago but just in case it's still outstanding!
I had the same problem. I solved it by using a session variable to pass the contextKey variable into the Webmethod.

That is what I ended up doing. THanks though for responding!

Hi, I have 2 projects A and B. Both of them depends eachother. (A->B and B->A)
How can i solve this circular dependency?
But im asking a solution, without adding another project.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
thanks.

You have 3 choices.
Move all shared code to project A.
Move all shared code to project B.
Move all shared code to a new project.
Pick your poison.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

So, except these solutions, can not i solve this problem?

I would have thought that the answer given was common sense, and it's common sense that these are the only solutions.

It has frequently been reported that common sense isn't very common.
