I never worked with msi. How did you create it? Is there anywhere that allow you to set component registration?

I am looking for free (or reasonably priced) online / CD ROM (Like AppDev) training for ASP .NET and C#.
If anyone has some CD's I could borrow / buy for a reasonable price, that would be great.
Links to free resources would also be helpful.
Thanks!

hi!
Wonder if anyone there can help re: setting up my machine as a ASP server?
I'm running Windows XP Pro and I have IIS installed and have set it to run in local services.
I've made a test file as follows :
<%
Dim dHour
dHour = Hour(Now)
If dHour < 12 Then
Response.Write "Good morning!"
ElseIf dHour < 17 Then
Response.Write "Good afternoon!"
Else
Response.Write "Good evening!"
End If
%>
We hope you are enjoying our sample code.

If you are curious it is currently <%= Time() %> on <%= Date() %>.

and saved it to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MyWeb
When I go to localhost in my browser, I just get :
Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.
However, I have also saved the file to C:\xampp\htdocs\xampp
and when I am running the Apache service and run the test file in my browser, it just shows the raw code, line for line.
How can I get the file to work as it should? I just want to know that the ASP service is running ok. What do I need to do to make it so ? o_O
Please help !

Have you tried it with IE? There are some issues that may prevent you connecting to localhost using FF. Try 127.0.0.1 or google the issue. It is a known issue.

you code looks vbscript to me. Does apache support vbscript?

you don't need to write any thing to test asp. Bring your browser and try http://localhost. This will execute asp code.
BTW: This is asp.net forum - next time try 'web development' forum.

I'm trying to set multiple default browser and I did. But only one runs when I Start Debugging. I just right click on any(randomly select) web page >> Browse With... >> Select 2 required browsers and close that window. Now when I press F5 VS only runs first Default browser.
I'm wondering is it possible to have multiple browsers ?

I doubt you could run multiple browsers by default. Even if it allow you to set multiple (which it shouldn't do in the first place).
Why do you want to run multiple browsers? Can't you do one after the another. I know it is tedious, but I don't see any other way of doing it. Say if you have multiple browsers open, can you attach to all of them from the the same debugger? I hope not.

I'm web developer. My primary browser is FF. I debug my application using FF, once done, I run it on IE, Safari and Opera to make sure it works. 99% of the time it works. On those occasions it fails, I target debug the failing browser. In most cases, what may not work is client javascript code.

Excuse me.
What do you think the default browser selection within VS does? No see my earlier question again.
Now, tell me how you will debug multiple browsers at the same time.

You problem is not clear? Can you be little bit clear?
What you are trying to do? Do you want some thing cache dependency with some external file or what ?

Well I am not sure if what you trying to do will work.
ASP.NET monitors any change on web.config. Whenever something gets changed, it loads the changes on the fly. But it does not monitor changes to an external files which you referenced in your web.config. Since you are changing external files, it is not visible to ASP.NET monitoring.
You will need to do it manually by stopping and restarting your application.

Hi,
I am developing a new website in .NET 3.5. When I tried to run it it gave me the following error:
Debugging Failed Because Integrated Windows Authentication Is Not Enabled.
So I enabled integrated Windows authentication through IIS. I am using the IIS version that comes with Windows XP Professional, I think it is version 5?
Now when I debug the website, it opens fine in IE 7. When I copy the same link (http://localhost/MyWebsite/) to Firefox then it asks me for a username and password. What username and password is this?
I hope someone can help?
Regards

Where is the physical location of your web application? Is it fileystem or HTTP.
Do you have the web.config file there?
.NET Enthusiast wrote: Now when I debug the website, it opens fine in IE 7.
Are you talking about debugging or Opening site?
IE7 works may be reason is, you IE setting set to automatically login with default user name password of windows. You can change the setting in IE.

Because, Your application is set to windows authentication mode.

Your windows system Credentials (Domain\User Id , Password).

It is HTTP. The web.config is very bare, it has the following in it (I took out all the default stuff):
authentication mode="Forms"
compilation debug="true"
That is all that I have set.
Abhijit Jana wrote: Are you talking about debugging or Opening site?

I am talking about debugging the website. When you click on the play button in VS2008.
Abhijit Jana wrote: Because, Your application is set to windows authentication mode.
How do you know this? Is it because I checked integrated Windows authentication?
Abhijit Jana wrote: Your windows system Credentials (Domain\User Id , Password).
I don't use a username and password for my system, it just starts up without asking a username and password.
Thanks
